Anyone know what engine this is? It has a 20x10 prop and the markings you see in the pics. It dates to the mid to late eighties and has CHIgnition.I don't know the displacement eiither. Thanks in advance...Charles

RE: What engine is this?
Hi Charles,
It appears to be a conversion of a Sachs Dolmar chain saw, maybe a3.2 cior a 3.7. Looks like it might have a C&H or a RC ignition system. CarlosG. |
RE: What engine is this?
I agree with Carlos.Ive had a few sachs and i believe its the 52cc[3.2].
Because of the shape of the transfer port i believe it came from a Sachs Dolmar model 115 chain saw.The model 111 has a straight up and down port. The model 115,has like a nuckle, like yours. Is there a number 44 in front of any letters anywhere on the cylinder? If there is, its a 52cc for sure. That number is the size of the cylinder in MMs. This how to tell what CCs it is. |
RE: What engine is this?
Looks like a T&G conversion. If it is the 6 bolt pattern on the prop hub will have a 1" diameter, everybody else used a 1.125 " diameter

RE: What engine is this?
Thanks for all your help. There is no '44', only the markings you see in the pictures. I don't know what a 'T&G' is but the prop hub diameter is 1-9/16" with a six hole pattern. I'm guessing the displacement is in the 50-60cc range. At any rate, I'll fire it up this week to see if it runs.

Pretty sure it's not a a Sachs, unless its one of the smaller ones. The smaller Sachs, 2.2, 2.4, & some 2.6 ci used KS cylinders. The 3.2, 3.7, 4.2 used Mahle cylinders until most recently. All of the 3.2 and 4.2 Sachs engines I own, have Male cylinders. The 3.2ci, is marked "44", the 3.7ci, is "47", & the 4.2ci,is "49".This is a Mahle 3.2 ci cylinder from an A&MSachs conversion.

RE: What engine is this?
Since most engines will accept a variety of mufflers, the 'TG' on the muffler probably doesn't mean anything relavent. That and thefact that I can't find a TGengine searching the web. There are no other markings other than the ones seen here in the pictures so the '44,47' etc doesn't do much either. On that thought, If I squint my eyes the figures in the casting appear to be SK or KS but I can't find anyting on either that would aid in identifying the engine.
It's a mystery to me. I thank you for the efforts though. |
