help on engine size....
Could anybody tell me if a 23cc gasser fly a 10.5 lbs super cub.
Thanks Mark |
RE: help on engine size....
Really depends on how you want to fly it. Hovering is out of the question, but that motor should allow you to do just about anything you and the plane are capable of doing.

Easily. The Cub has a lot of high lift wing area and is not usually associated with 3d flight. A 23 would do well.

RE: help on engine size....
We have had a few 20 pound Decathlon's and Cubs with floats, flying fantastic on 20-26cc engines. Even with the big wings and floats adding lots of drag, they really fly great....you'll be just fine with your setup.
|

Thanks Everyone. Its my Dads plane, and some guys out at the field have told him thats not enough engine that he needs a 26cc. He's more in to scale flying so this soounds like he'll be pleased w\ the preformance, and have alittle extra if needed.

Hi!
23cc gas engine is way way too big for a 5kg Cub with 2-2,2m in span! |
RE: help on engine size....
Would probably fly easily on a 91 four stroke, my opinion is a 23 gas is way to much.

RE: help on engine size....
I put a 25cc engine on my 80" Citabria. It weighs 10 pounds. :D
But I ain't planning to fly it scale or anything even remotely resembling scale. [X(] |

RE: help on engine size....
Doing waterfalls might be tough coming back upright....punching out of hovers might be a little slow...knife edge loops could be a little slow on the way up...other than that it should do ok.
|
