I clean the muffler and engine exhaust port gasket area with alcohol, then the threads on the bolts. Mix up some JB Weld, lightly smear it on the gasket area, then a little on the bolt threads, I cover the first 1/4" of the threads with a good amount of JB. Let it set-up overnight, your problem is solved. You can get the muffler off at a later date if you want to though, but it will feel like someone with forearms like Popeye put them in. My Brillelli came new this way, I've do it on all my engines since then works great.

What's your secret for drilling the bolt heads, I've tried several times and all I get are a handful of broken drill bits. All the bolts I've tried it on seemed to be pretty hard stuff? Do you use a special drill bit, do you turn the drill bit fast or slow? Any Info. you can give will be appreciated............RJ

An Allen bolt is around 44 Rockwell C scale so they are pretty hard. They have to be drilled in a guide jig.

Best to buy them already drilled

Heat until red, let cool slowly, drill hole, heat until red, cool by wiggling in oil or water, heat just a bit, (until you see it blue), let cool slowly.
