hey guys,,I have a new t/f staggerwing on the way and need an engine. Would like to use gas,but dont know witch.I like the g-38 but have to cut the firewall and I dont like that, now Im thinking of a DLE30 never heard of them has any body here heard of them. Can you guys help me out with a good gaser for this plane.
thanks Fred |
RE: witch engine
I don't know what kind of thrust figures you are looking for,but if a DLE 30 is something you are considering, then don't forget about the MLD28 from Cermark.I have one and it is a great running little powerhouse.Just read the threads here on RCU and you will also see what good service Cermark gives with this engine.I bought mine for a Dynaflite Decathlon and so far ,so good.Sorry,I don't have any experience with the DLE30 but I'm sure those who do will be giving their comments.

The G-26 is a great engine, and is lighter and as powerful as the 38. From what i'm reading, this plane comes in at close to 20lbs? I'm sure the G-26 would fly it, but there would not be much excess power there. |
RE: witch engine
hey RCDUDE7, I have a g-26 on my super stearman and I love it,but dont think it will pull the staggerwing well.I have read some,on the dle-30 it sounds good have you tried one or seen one flying.I like the brison 2.4 but dont that much about it,do you or anybody out there know?
thanks Fred |
RE: witch engine
The G-26 is qiute powerful for its size, I very much doubt that the DLE is going to be much stronger.
I have owned the brison 2.4 and it is a very nice engine, mine turned a APC 20X10 @ 7200 rpm, this is much stronger than the G-26 and weighs little more. If you can get one, I would suggest it as a good choice. |
RE: witch engine
is brison not made anymore?
|
RE: witch engine
I don't know, mine was made in TX when Gary Brison owned the company. Last I heard, brison engines are made elsewhere, by someone else.
I did a quick search and found this: http://www.rc-revolution.com/bri1.htm |
RE: witch engine

|
RE: witch engine
Yes, they are well made and run well. Do a search here and you will find much praise of the brison engines. |
RE: witch engine
ok rcdude7- thanks for the info.think I will go with one of them.Take a look at item#565513 and tell what you think its a brison 2.4 used.

The crankshaft in this engine is a cantilever type, so they will stand up to a propstrike better than a three piece crank like a zenoah or similar. |

""guys,I need some feedback on a mvvs 35 engines, anybody have one or know about them?""
:D:D:D I have a MVVS 35 in my 82 inch ARF GeeBee Y, with an inverted side muffler it will turn a 3W 20x8 at 7200, it gives my GBY good Top Speed, I would say yes it is a bit fast, this setup weighs around 15&1/2 pounds,, I would think for the Staggered Wing a MVVS 35 would need a Larger Diameter 21x6 Less Pitch for better pull off the ground,, as for the MVVS it's self it is a Top of The Line Engine, it's only draw-back is it's just a bit heavy,, so if you want a new MVVS buy the MVVS 40, it should be a real monster..
