AMSOIL - DOMINATOR switch
 

I just tried AMSOIL - DOMINATOR 50 to 1 oil in one of my engines and I notice more smoke than when I was running a 40 to one mix of Pennzoil air cooled oil. I will probably go back to the Pennzoil but I wanted to try the Amsoil as an experiment.

Wondering why I might be seeing more smoke with Dominator.

Engine does not seem to be running any hotter or any different than with the other oil.

Be aware that when you play around with different oils, you may have to re-adjust your needles.

I went from Pennz 32:1 to Stihl Ultra 50:1 and really like the stuff. Jody from Valleyview recommended it. The Pennz 32:1 really stained my covering. The Stihl cleans up with only a paper towel. Also lots of people sell this oil, anybody that is a Stihl chain saw dealer. Mine was $18 for 6 pack of 6.4 ounce bottles.

What engine was you running when you changed from Pennz 32-1 to Stihl 50-1? Just curious. thanks Capt,n

I've been experimenting with the HP Ultra since Pat started talking about it here in the forum. It sure seems to be everything he says it is and then some. (For some strange reason I am not surprised considering what he does) I have been using it in my DA50, DL50 and MVVS 26 and all seem to really like it. I haven't pulled a cylinder yet but have looked though the plug hole and the piston looks clean so around 50 hrs I'll take a closer look.

For the Pennzoil I was using 32:1 but for the synthetics I mix at 40:1. I have not tried it with Redline or HP Ultra but the Pennz made more HP each time I added more oil. I tried it all the way to 16:1 and each time got more power. (I see NO reason to believe the synthetics would be any different) I settled on 32:1 with the Pennz because it made OK power but less mess. 16:1 puts a bunch of oil out on the plane.
