it has a 18-8 on it.the plane was built in 1984.I think it is the original engine.I cant find a name on it anywhere, just a serial # and a plate that says made in canada. it says mahle on the cylinder back and has a walbro carb.Think i'm going to have to rebild the carb, cant get it to pickup gas.

No, it is definitely a Quadra. Probably a 35, but possibly a 40 or 42.

Made in Canada is the tip off. High probability of being a Quadra.

The engine is the spitting image of my 1980 Quadra 2.0! Mine swings a 18/8 to a 19-6/10 happily. With that said,i'd almost lay money on it being a Quadra 2.0

From what I've been looking up , I'm thinking your right on the quadra. Still haven't figured out what size but I 'm bettig it's a 35.I'll keep researching.I put a new carb kit in it and it started right up!I had never heard of quadra, so I would have never figured that one out. Thanks!!I,m just glad it runs ok , I give $100 for the plane ,motor, and radio so I think I got a pretty good deal on it.The plane is in great shape but it has an old futaba model fp-t6fg/k radio with a fm module in it. I'll probably have to upgrade that but thats another thread ,I guess. Thanks!!

I got a 42 sittin right here. Its a side exhaust tho so thats not it. My 42 swings a 20/10 as does a us 41. prop is a match for a 35l

Q35, 42, and US 41 were rear ex. Q50,52 were side ex.. The engine in question sure looks like an old 35. Heavy but run forever. We have a guy in the club flying Q35's well over 20 yrs. od, maybe older ....can't beat them to death.

Think thats what i'm going to call it anyway.Sounds good to me.I dont think it has many hours on it so maybe I'll get several out of it.

It is defenately a quadra. Remove exhuast and meassure across pistin in mm. That will give you the cc on this particular engine. 35mm is the 35cc, 41.5 is the 42 cc. Enjoy it and make sure you will it to your kids, it'll last that long!</p>
