Fuji-Imvac BF-25EI Information Request
I am considering using a Fuji-Imvac BF-25EI engine in a prototype robotic tool we are proposing to the US DoD. We need a very small, light weight engine to run the tool. The big constraint is operating the engine from fuel sources that are currently part of the DoD supply chain. This includes straight automotive gasoline, JP8 & diesel. 2-stroke oil or common hobby fuels are not acceptable.
This engine looks like a good candidate but I am having a heck of a time getting detailed information about the engine. I really need a dimensioned drawing of the engine but only saw such a drawing for the 34cc model. Does anyone have or know where I can get the equiv drawing for the 25cc engine? I know it is probably asking for the world but a 3D parametric model (Solidworks/STEP/IGES) would be even better if it exists. Has anyone put serious hours on one of these engines? Any comments about reliability? Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions for similar engines capable of running from the fuels listed. |
RE: Fuji-Imvac BF-25EI Information Request
I would personally go with one of the Honda Mini 4-Strokes. They've had a 25, 31 and 35cc available. Perhaps check with these guys: http://www.carrprecision.com/Pages/prod02.htm There are other mini 4 strokes around from various garden equipment applications I would likely consider as well, before the Fuji, but again, this is just my personal choice.
I've just never been a fan of the Fuji. The intitial cost of getting into one, plus replacement parts cost being very high, has been a couple of the reasons behind my opinion. Performance, reliability and support would be other reasons, as compared to alternatives that are available. |

Chad,
I really appreciate your feedback. I agree that Honda engines are an incredible value and was not aware they made a small 4-stroke. I will look into these. My personal testiment to Honda's reliability is my 1979 Honda ATC110 that still starts on the first pull! It has been used hard for 30 years with minimal maintainence and still runs like a champ. Thanks gain for your help! Karl |

3w-28i, heavy fuel. Runs all day and quite a bit more on JP-8. Contact 3w Germany, direct. You might also call Aircraft International to obtain a unit for prototype work. Sonex Labs in Annapolis may have another alternative that might work a little better.
