MT 35 Looks Like a Winner

I just checked out the specs on the new MT 35 and on paper it looks like a winner. The specs show it to be about 50 grams less than the DL 30 and it also has a rear induction carb. The thing that I like about this motor is the bore to stroke ratio. At 32mm this motor has a long stroke compared to other motors in its class and I beleive a longer stroke motor will do better on a larger prop. Here are some comparisons with some other popular engines strokes, DA 50 35mm, DL 55 35mm, 3W50 32mm, DL 30 30mm, Zenoah 45 31mm, Zenoah 26 28mm.
If this motor can spin a 20x8 prop to about 7200rpm I think I may have to buy one as I can think of a few planes that would do very well with this combination of weight to power. Too bad Great planes discontinued the 74" Saucey Extra 300 as this would be an awsome combo. Anyway I'm excited about some of these new 30cc class motors that are a good pound lighter than the 50cc engines. Up untill recently the smaller engines have weighed almost as much as the light 50cc engines and had a lot less power.

RE: MT 35 Looks Like a Winner

I talked to Thunderbolt RC today and he said they will test one when they become avalible and if they are happy with the performance and reliability they will carry them. Could be March or April till this all happens. I am going to wait untill I hear good feedback on it before I purchase one. I had one of the first DL 50's in North America and it was a bit of a pain to get running good "bad carb".

RE: MT 35 Looks Like a Winner

Does anyone know if these engines are available yet? I would like to see a MT35 vs. DL30 on some larger props ie. 19"x8" and 20"x8". With its longer stroke I think the MT35 will out pull the DL30 on the bigger props. If I were trying to sell these engines I would post a video showing this asap and the sales will follow.;)

The MT35 will begin shipping one week after the Chinese New Year, or around the first week in March. Right now we have three MT35's available in our Florida facility should anyone want one.

Presently no video is available from MT Engines comparing props, etc. When one becomes available I will post it promptly.

RE: MT 35 Looks Like a Winner

Well I couldn't wait, so I ordered one from Joe at Southwest RC Engines. I also just bought a fromeco tnc tach so I should be able to get some accurate RPM No's when I get the engine. I hope it will spin a 20"x8" . If it is a good runner I might just throw it in my GP Patty Wagstaff.

Seagull Extra,

[&:][&:][&:] I bought the first of Four Engines that just came in thru Joe at Southwest Engines. I got First MT-80 came in USA and Love how smooth & powerful it is. We had over 15 Gas Engines in last 2 years. We Sold or Traded Off 4 of them that are Best Suited for Scale Warbirds but Not 3D Airplanes. I've known about MT-35 coming out for a long time and Knew I had Have one. I really like to fly 20% to 30% Birds Best and these New Lighter 30CC to 35CC Engines open up allot Great Possibilities.[sm=75_75.gif][sm=71_71.gif][sm=omg_smile.gif]

[sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=punching.gif] I Also Have Brand New DLE-30 and I have the TNC Tach. It's Going be interesting to test and See the differences??? But I Think MT-35 with Rear Carb is going be a Superior for 3D Airplane Engine!!![X(][sm=omg_smile.gif][sm=idea.gif] The Machineing on My MT-80 is Flawless and Engine always draws a lot of attention at our Club Field. Mt-80 I Have is on a 90" Sukhoi. Winter came and We Waiting on weather to complete Our Test Flight Testing Stage. My direct E-mail [email protected]. Be interesting to share our Running Results. Props I can tell You make a Big Difference in Performance I've Found on this size Gas Engine. Also thrust off props can vary significantly. Up 500 RPM differnce between Brands in Same Size & Pitch and even though some do less RPM they Produce MORE THRUST!!![sm=punching.gif][sm=punching.gif][sm=punching.gif]
:)[sm=49_49.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif]You will LOVE Your TNC TACH !!!! They are Very Accurate and a Excellent Tool help Tune Engines just Right.[:-][:-][:-] Worth Every Penny and don't be surprised When Club Members want You Tach Their Birds. I won't borrow Mine out but will use it Myself help others in Our Club. We have normally about 180 Club members and as far as I know I have only TNC Tach. Not Common Tach see allot of in Use. ENJOY!!![sm=wink_smile.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif]

Rich it looks like we have simular taste in equipment. I always got frustrated with my cheap hobbico tach when trying to fine tune an engine so I thought the tnc tach would be a good investment. I agree the brand of prop makes a big differance, all I have right now is a zinger 20"x8" that I had for an old ST3000 but I am going to order xroar 20"x8" and 19"x8" props. Seeing as you already own the DL30 you are in a better position than I to make a comparison between them. I will look foward to seeing your numbers. My gut feeling is the MT will outpull the DL because of the longer stroke and greater displacement. 5cc is a 16% advantage at 30cc.

Well, Tomy Shen just sent me the dimensions of the MT35 and I have saved the drawing as a pdf file, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to attach the pdf image of this drawing to this post. Anybody know how?

Andy - I do not think the OAL includes the carb, but I have asked Tomy Shen for the answer. Also asked what the OAL, including the carb is. I will post the answer when I hear back from Tomy.

I guess I attached the drawing after all and did not know it! [sm=biggrin.gif]

""I agree the brand of prop makes a big difference""

just for a 35cc reference point here,,,

my MVVS 35cc Red Head will spin a 3W 20x8 at 7200 tuned for flight, and peak-out RPM is 7370 with that prop,, my muffler is an Bisson Inverted Side Muffler,, it will turn a Zinger 20x8 peaked-out at 7690,, but the Zinger is no 3W prop !!

with the 3W 20x8 it pulls my 15 pound ARF 82" span GBY rather fast at Full Throttle, but at that weight it's no real acrobatic plane,, a 3W 21x6 in a lighter (13 pound) Edge or Yack would pull Low Speed Acrobatics much better..

Wasp that MVVS looks like it puts out some good power. If my new MT can come close to or equal those prop no's I will be very happy with it.

Thanks Joe, Thats good, it will fit in a few different 1.20 size planes and up with out doing any cutting or hacking to the plane.

nice looking 35 engine there. Any more specs on it? I am wondering if it will fit a narrow cowl of an airplane I am working on
