engine idenification

How can I find out what kind of engine is on my plane? A friend of mine gave me an airplane today. He didnt know anything about it. Turns out someone gave it to him. I belive it is a 30% Extra 300. It has an engine on it, and appears to be a gas engine. All I can tell about it, is that it has Pitts style exhaust with 3 exaust tubes and says Bennett on it. The only markings on the engine are a serial number-#R031131015. The ignition box has a sticker that says Tom W. Perry. Any help on what kind of engine it is and size would be a world of help. Thanks

It is probably a Tom Perry Sack's conversion, if so is a good engine, A picture would be good.
