Engine Choice!

<div></div><div>Hi all, I wanted to ask the greater pool of experience on an engine for my Sig 1/5 scale Cub. I will be starting the build as soon as the kit arrives. I haven&rsquo;t settled on an engine yet, way to many to choose from. I would like it to remain somewhat scale in performance leaning on the side of a little more power, but I do not want the engine to look too big for the plane. I would like to go with a 4 stroke, and I have considered a gas engine also. So I throw this out into the great RC universe to see what comes back, I imagine that you all will have a much better take on what to use then myself.</div><div></div><div>Thanks</div><div></div><div>TB</div>

1/5th scale? The Saito FG 14B. I had a YS63 on my 1/5th cub and it was wonderful. Nice sound throttled back flying scale, but plenty of power to goof off, even with floats. In a gas 4-stroke this small...Saito is all that comes to mind. Save your pennies though....these little gasser 4-strokes aint free. The YS.63 and Saito .80 4 stroke glow engines are close in power, thus my suggestion for the FG14B. The Gasoline version of the Saito won't be quite as powerful, but still plenty in my opinion.

A Saito FA-56 would be great.

I've been around a lot of 1/5 scale Cubs and the Saito 56 is an ideal power for the plane.

However the Saito FG-14 will fit in the plane and fly it OK but for cruising around you will be using low throttle settings.

The Saito 60T and 90TS were designed for 1/5 scale Cubs. The 90TS was intended for a Cub with floats

The Saito 90TMK II and 100T have the carb on top and do not adapt as well but have been used on Cubs

<div>If budget was not an issue, I would go for this sweet twin, but I think I will settle for this one instead &ldquo;82 Golden Knight AAC&rdquo; Saito.</div><div></div><div>TB</div>
