No Spark - Help Please!!!
 

Okay here are the facts as I know and understand them:

a. Engine - Turnigy 50HP rear carb.
b. Prop - Bambula 22x8
c. Factory igntion was plastic cased and came loose and got up next to the muffler, melting the bottom of the case.
d. After that, I could not get the engine to start.
e. ordered a new RX-Excel ignition with a new hall sensor amd installed per the seller's instructions.
f. Still would not start.
g. Plug is a new NGK CM6.
h. Pulled plug and installed in cap, held up against the cylinder head and when I turned the prop I could not get any spark.
i. Also tried another ignition battery, both through the switch and connecting direct to the ignition module.

If the new ignition is acting the same as the old ignition, I don't know what else to try! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using the ols sensor or did you install the new one that came with the new ignititon.

Edit, just seen where you said you used tge new ignition.

Did you check the polarity on the magnet to the sensor before you installed it.

Find a magnet, wave it over the sensor...South pole triggers the RC EXL...

Did not know that! I checked it and evidently I installed the sensor wrong. When I flipped it over I immeditaley got spark. Oh well, as Forrest Gump says:"Stupid is as Stupid Does!" Thanks a Bunch!

I just hooked up my new RCexcel ignition the other day and was faced with the same question as to which side is up on the Hall sensor. I went with having the same color order on the leads as with the old sensor, it worked, so I guess I guessed right:). Could the instructions be a little more detailed??[:-]

All you have to do is hook up a battery to the ignition, plug the sensor into the ignition before you install it into the bracket, Now move the sensor over the magnet, if you do not get a spark turn it over and try, It will spark on one side or the other, install into the bracket with the side down that made the spark.
