MT-57 Problem
Hey Guys,
I have a Great Planes Ultimate with a MT-57. I was flying the other day and the spark plug blew out of the jug and stripped all the threads out. Has anyone else had this problem before. This motor has less than three gallons of fuel through it. I have a reasonable quote to fix it but I would have never thought this would happen. I was able to dead stick land it with no problems. Going to tear her down next week and get it fixed. |
RE: MT-57 Problem
Not a uncommon or a hard to fix problem. I bought a helicoil kit from a local auto parts store for less than $20. Didn't even pull the engine from the airframe, just pull the cylinder off and make the repair.

RE: MT-57 Problem
Hey Catfish,
I am sure that is what is needed. I planned on just taking the jug off, might get to it this week. I appreciate the suggestion John but I think a local engine shop in town is going to be able to fix it for me. I would do it myself like catfish said but I have a bunch going on. Thanks guys. |
