PVMAC Fall Classic Race for EF-1 and Parkzone Warbirds: October 29th

Parkzone Warbird RaceOn October 29th,

the PVMAC will have the inaugural "PVMAC Fall Classic Race for EF-1 and Parkzone Warbirds". This a 1 day even only at the Chino Prado Field. There will be 2 classes of racing, the Parkzone warbird class and the more serious Electric Formula Class (EF-1). Cost of racing is only $10 for the day and YOU MUST BRING A HARDHAT! You will also need a caller with their own hardhat. A caller is the person who stands by the pilot and tells him when to turn as well as Launches hand launched planes) Registration opens at 7:30am and racing starts at 9:00am

The ParkZone Foam Warbird Class is intended to provide a relatively low-cost avenue for the average modeler to experience the thrill and excitement of R/C Air Racing! This class combines the good flying characteristics of the ParkZone Warbirds, the ease and simplicity of an almost-ready-to-fly electric airplane, and the variety of classic Warbird designs to bring Scale air racing to a size and budget that most modelers can achieve. Eligible Parkzone planes are the T-28 Trojan, P-51 Mustang, F4U Corsair, F4F Wildcat, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109g Messerschmitt and Spitfire Mk IX. Each plane type must fly specific configurations which will help even the flying field, so be sure to Official download the Parkone Racing Rules and Guidlines here.

There will be 2 practice sessions as well. The first practice session is on Saturday October 8th at 3pm , and the second practice session on Saturday October 22nd at 3pm. The Prado field will be closed to all other flying during this time.
Racing will be conducted according to general AMA guidelines and in accordance
with the NMPRA’s EF-1 racing procedures. They can be found at NMPRA’s
website here: http://www.nmpra.org/rules/EF1NewRules_5_%5B1%5D.pdf

Racing in either class will be conducted according to general AMA guidelines and in accordancewith the NMPRA’s EF-1 racing procedures. The rules can be found at NMPRA’s website or downloaded here

Board Member Ken McSpadden is the CD for this event. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ken here

Hey everybody....

Just a reminder that the Pomona Valley Model Airplane Club which operates out of the Prado R/C field in Chino CA is holding a three-pole pylon race on Saturday, October 29th. We will be racing two classes, EF-1 and Parkzone Warbirds. Standard EF-1 rules apply, and a set of rules for the Parkzone Warbird class are available at the PVMAC website...
PVMAC.com or http://pvmac.com/PDFDocs/2011_Parkzo..._Guidlines.pdf

We have lots of very nice prizes to give away from Horizon Hobby including some PNP kits and Micro warbirds from Parkzone, and more! We will also be setting up the pylons this Saturday the 22nd at 3 pm for pylon practice.

If you've got a T28, Corsair, P-51, Wildcat, Me109, P-47, or Spitfire from Parkzone, then bring it out and have some fun with us.

See you there!!

Ken

I need you name and ama #. This is a great field and a great club that I believe would support at least an annual event out there , so come on out and support it. Its only $10 to have a great time!!! The Parkzone event looks like it will be a blast for the experienced and newbie alike. We had both flying today against each other and nobody got lapped. The first timer can be very competitive in this class.

The Prado inaugural race was a Success!!! We had 12 EF1 entries and 18 Parkzone Warbird entries. The Weather was great and all had a great time!!

It was good to see a lot of Club members giving racing a try. The majority of Parkzone racers had never raced before and I think they will be back for the next one. This combo of events is a great way to promote racing. A lot of flyers have parkzone warbirds, and are apt to try racing in an event like this. We had a few new racers in the ef1 class as well. Some really close racing all day!! Only one EF1 was lost and a couple of Warbirds. Thanks to the Pomona Valley Model Airplane Club for putting on this race. They did an outstanding job, and there is talk of have a spring and fall race next year!! Thanks to Ken McSpadden for doing most of the organizing for this race and making it happen. He put a lot of work into this . Thanks to the board for getting behind the event!!
Results are here.
