www.buddengineering.com he has a laser throw meter, but he's sold out right now.

I use the ILAR method (it looks about right ) and then go fly it and make changes then......

Oscar,
I use a ruler to make sure my travel is close to the manufacturers recomendation. Then I just eyeball to see if both sides are moving the same amount.

Stick a straight pin in the trailing edge of your control surface the just hold ruler up to the pin. It works and it's very accurate.
