Hosteler Super Chipmunk 30%
#1

Hello,
Has anybody out there built one? I am building one from the National Balsa kit , the laser cutting is fantastic , However the design and build up leaves a lot to desire (in my opinion).
The prints are not very informative of how things work or go together (once again, in by opinion). Please tell tell me were you had problems.
I know it is considered for advanced builders, (which I am), the main problem I am having is the fuselage formers don't line up and there are extra
slots for stringers that go no where ,The plans are pretty basic, I wish more time was spent on the direction how to build i,t then the time on
how to make the canopy open.
Thanks,
Jerry B

I built a Hosteler 30% Piper Cherokee from a National Balsa short kit and the formers were the same, the stringers did not align. Some of the formers were only etched so that worked on well. I'm building another and I plan to cut my own formers. The plans seem to accurate as when things didn't line up I always referenced the planes. I have the 30% Chipmunk kit as well that I hope to build, have the cowl, heel pants, and graphics ready. If you looking for giant scale civilian there's not much choice other than Hosteler and I'm thankful the plans are available.

I got the laser cut kit and canopy from National Balsa, the fiberglass glass came from Fiberglass SpecialSpecialty in Arkansas. The struts came from Sierra landing gear.
Take care,
