Awesome Comp-Arf customer service.....3.3 Yak Arrives!
Well thanks to Con-Way my custom painted 3.1 Composite-ARF Super Extra was completely destroyed in shipping after 10 weeks of waiting. So Andreas Geitz, being the stand up guy he is, laid out some options to get a plane to me as soon as possible. After a whole bunch of flip flopping I went with the beautiful 3.3M Yak in Red (just like John VH) and I picked it up at the terminal last night! So far I have only had a chance to inspect the componants but will put it together later and snap a few pics.
I gotta let eveyone know that Andreas and Comp-Arf really care and I couldn't have asked for better support! Andreas (the owner) himself always responds directly to my emails and works very hard to assure his customers have the best experience possible with his planes! So I just want to thank Andreas (and Larry Tudor of course) for working hard and making things happen so fast! Guys if you ever have any reservations about going with a Composite-Arf...DON'T! They are a great value with awesome customer support. Ok, now I am going to go play with my new plane!

When i got my 2.3 from con-way the box barely had a scratch on it. somebody was having a bad day
I thought the bigger planes came in a wood crate ??

Congrats Paul, so maiden will be next weekend[:-]!!!! I am getting ready to go maiden my Extra this morning.
bodyman - even a wooden crate is no match for the delivery truck or other heavy equipment.

Yes they do come in a wooden crate but Con-way completely destroyed it. The back of the crate was blown out and missing, half the top was removed and than they bent the open ends together and tried to shrink wrap the rest of it to a palate to keep it from falling apart. Oh yea, they apparently drove something through the side of the crate and just annihilated the fuse. The only undamaged parts of the plane was one wing panel, the cowl and the canopy frame. The rest was basically totally trashed. But, Andreas came through for me and I am now the proud owner of a Red/Yellow 3.3m Yak.
I just got finished putting it all together (pics later tonight) and it is just soooo cool! I am psyched to say the least!

So Paul...it seems that it takes on average 2 or 3 comp-arf's shipped to you before you get one intact!!!!!
Is it just your luck??? or the fact that you are in New Jersey????

Well what can ya do? Freight company's are not exactly known for their finesse. I think they assume that whatever is in the crate can take an impact from a engine block being dropped on it...lol!

I originally was set on the Super Extra but now that I have this plane I am soooo psyched I went this way! I just can't wait to get it going!
