Nice plane friend. Very, very, very nice. I promise it will be your all time favorite. Can't wait for the flight report!

Again, a very nice job.

I've been wanting to build one of those for several years, but have never got around to pricing the plans and kit cutting. If you have any information you would be willing to share in that area it would be appreciated.

Since Miles has retired, Dave Dessecker is now "the man"

I don't know about kit the cutting cost as I built from plans, but I did order the cabanes, landing gear and canopy. Dave Dessecker was a big help. The build is not that difficult, but you have to work at keeping things in alignment. I made a few minor changes to suite my building style. The cowl is built up balsa and light ply, very light. The plane balanced with no additional weight added. According to Dave my weight is about average and he has heard of some as light as 17+ pounds. Plane is designed for a G-62.

Hope this helps.

That would be Garry Villard--he does canopy, wheel pants, and cowls for Dave.

As always, Canavanbob projects are superb. Nice colors also. Can't wait to see it fly.

Looking at the your neighboors palm trees, you would think were were in Hawaii or Florida, and not the desert of Southern California!!!

See you at the field

Pretty? Sure, but will it 3D, Bob? Will we see it this weekend? Time to lay off that pig tail heavy Edge and move on to the real planes, the gassers.

Iowa: See post 4 above for Dave Dessecker's e-mail. He can give you all the help you need.

Grandslam, Jens: Maybe Sunday for engine runs, probably no flight.

Canavanbob,

AWESOME Weeks ! ! ! ! ! A friend of mine has one he built back in 1994 and I will tell you this, it is the best flying airplane I've ever seen. My friend likes it even more than the 35% Carden Extra he built......[X(]. He did do one thing a little differently. He slightly enlarged the cowl and changed the shape of it so he could put a 3W78 twin in it. Let me tell you, adequate power is not a problem with that plane.......[>:][>:]

Good luck with your awesome plane. I hope you get many years of enjoyable flying with your new plane.

David

I built the SI Models Solution which I understand was a Miles Reed design that he gave SI the OK to use. At 72 inches with a Sachs 4.2 it is an awesome flyer!

Can someone with the plans verify what the total wing area is and total length?

Is Gary still making fiberglass cowls?

Reviving an old thread. I acquired an X from a fellow club member and just got through recovering it. Great, great flyer, it just had many patches from the years, and stripes were peeling. I think I'm going to need a canopy though. Any ideas?

Before.....

After....

Try Fiberglass Specialties, I recently got a Solution canopy from them and fit it on a Weeks Special. Rick

Thanks. already got one from Dave. Then, my cowl came loose this weekend and got into my prop, so now, I'm repairing it. It's the original built up version. I would replace it with a fiberglass one, however, there is not a matching paint for my blue metallic Monokote.
