Hey Scott, you really should be bigger than the box the plane came in to get to fly it
Matt
You've obviously never seen how tall...er i mean...short Wayne is.

I put him on my shoulders to get a foamy out of a basket when we were flying in a gym.

My first DA came in (2808) yesterday in tip top shape. Looks great. My other DA will arrive this Thursday or Friday via UPS. I'll post it's serial number when it arrives as well.

I'll have a NIB DA-50r for sale next week. Keep an eye out.

J. David, got the tuned pipe. Thanks a bunch. Looks great!
Good to hear you got that engine in! But, if you got a tuned pipe from J. David, then why didn't he use it in the RPM/Db test????? Hmmm...

My first thought with the Yak had to do with a scale wheel pant (or ferring)

Has anyone fabricated a scale wheel pant like seen in the link below?

This is something I am very interested in also, as it would be a great idea for weight savings!

J david decided to go with the chip hyde pipe. I wanted the tuned KS 1060 (call me crazy but I liked where the exhaust exited the fuse with that pipe and not having some pipes coming out of the nose) so I picked one up off him when I discovered that DA was Out of Stock on the KS 1060.

I'm back in action and alive.... thank god. Atlanta and then Vegas.

I did not send it to DA - no time. I flew it all weekend and it's getting better and better each flight. No doubt, I have more power than wayne on vertical lines. I can really feel it. After I get through the break in I'll lien it out and the motor will really come alive. I like the power in my plane for IMAC. You can do two snaps on an upline and power straight up. I'm really liking that pipe!

Hey Drew

Did you get your engine and pipe back from DA yet? If so, what RPMs are you getting now?

Thanks

I like the pipe over the std muffler.

ORIGINAL: jpa2002

Well, what is the verdict? Which pipe is best, the KS, or the standard pipe for the DA 50? I have both, so I want to know which one is best before I get my plane.

Drew, thanks for replying. Where are you guys getting your power switches, and what gauge wire are you using with them. I am going to run Fromeco lipos with regulators, so I don't want to fry anything.

I just unpacked the box with my Yak and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of this ARF... Better than anything I've seen on the market...

No damage to any of the components, but I believe I am missing a few things... The wing tube for one...

Chris' website doesn't have a complete parts listing of what's supposed to be shipped with each airframe...

I checked Drew's website and the shots of what's in the box are good, but I would still like an itemized list...

Anyone know what exactly is supposed to be packed in the box with the airframe and what is coming in the separate USPS shipment???

The wing tube should be in the wing bag with one of the wings. There is a pocket on the inside.

Did you check the wing bag for the tube?
If you did and its not there, its supposed to be.
Call Chris he will take care of you.

Wayne,

Nice flying! I enjoyed your video.
I was just wondering if you have flown a Funtana, and how you would compare the two planes interms of build quality and flying characteristics.

Thanks.

I know you are asking for Wayne to answer, but I've flown both too.

The Funtana flies like a "fun fly". It is designed for 3D and does that well. The Yak flies like a big plane that 3Ds great and IMACs great too. The Yak locks into high alpha (harriers & KE) better than the Funtana.

It's really not fair to compare the two b/ they are two different classes of airplane.

If you epoxied the ring standoff to teh firewall and filled the square hole it would be just fine. Still, your decision to ge the D50 is sound and you'll be VERY pleased you did ovver the 42... Now the 52 Taurus would be just great!

ORIGINAL: jrjohn

I can have Princess hold the motor on the firewall and take a picture if you like, the bottom bolt misses the firewall. there are 5 bolts in total, maybe 4 is good enough??

Thanks for the reply Drew
I like the fact that it's picking up RPMs now. Have you guys switched to synthetic yet? What synthetic do you guys usually use?

Just waiting on my 50 to be shipped back from DA and then I'll get this plane together ASAP!
Thanks alot for all the pictures from GA! Looked like you all had a good time.
