AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! The "Red Bull" is built with a little lemon twist! I know that it will get fixed it just sucks that I have $100.00 worth of covering and Kirby Kustom Graphics on it. This will be interesting.

Wayne: How will this really affect the flying? I ask you cause I thnk you are the best Pilot flying one of these, and you are a real Pilot. Can the twist be trimmed out? I know that it shouldn't exsist, I am just curious.

Sorry to ask but is just inserting the tubes in the fuselage, blocking it up as close to even in the back, and then just eyeballing it, a close enough way to tell if I have a problem or not?

You should be able to tell just by eyeballing it, view your plane from several feet behind, (the other side of the room for me) put some white paper behind it, (so it contrasts the black wing tubes) and it should be readily apparent if they are parallel or not.

man, that sucks !! it's all your fault ! you twisted it when you recovered it ! Nah, just kidding. I hope it's not that flexible.

I suppose with all our fancy computer radios, you could mix an ever so slight amount of MORE throw on the elevator that is higher, that would cause a rolling moment opposite the one induced by the tilted stab !

Way to go!!! Island flyer gets the prize. I am gonna get one of these birds that are coming in on the next shipment so I have been watching this thread from time to time. I just had to jump in here on this one.

You guys are pretty funny I must say.

Having the elevator out of plane with the main wing is like this...The next time you go to the tire store tell them to adjust your alignment so your left wheel is out by about 2 degrees while leaving your right wheel straight. Now.. go drive down the interstate and let me know if you get sick of holding pressure on the wheel to keep your dragon wagon on the road.

Think about it...I bet the lights are already coming on.

Seriously though...I can't wait to get mine. It's gonna be sa weeeet.

Here's another victim of the infamous fuse-twist... Known to bring a tear to Yak lovers everywhere... [sm=crying.gif]

I emailed Chris this afternoon and he responded in less than 1 hour...

Let's hope that he has a poop-load of spare Yaks in the shop to handle these issues...

You would naturally put in a correction, so in effect each wheel would be out 1 degree, but everything would still be symmetrical and the car may still track fine (without pulling) (only the steering wheel would now be crooked to go straight)

I know, I know, I got your point

Honestly, I dont know.
What I do know is this:

#1 Nobody is going to have to fly a EF Yak with stabs that are not parallel to the wing. Every person with the problem will be taken care of.

#2 Unless your going to fly serious IMAC with this plane I believe that the twist wouldnt matter that much. Its going to need to be trimmed out for sure but, we have all flown planes that werent perfectly true and never cared. (especially if your only going to fly 3D)

We expect perfection with this plane and thats what you will get at the end of the road. The road unfortunately has some bumps right now.
In all reality, Its a very minor setback.

Either I am blind in one eye and can't see out the other, or.... mine seems to be okay. I got it as level as possible and eyeballed it, even had my wife look too and it appears to be straight. When I place the fuselage so I have both lined up the only part of the forward tube I see is the ends. Everything from inside, out to the end of the stab tube is all I see. This, I think anyway, is a good sign. If it would be as apparent as the pictures I've seen of some of the crooked ones, then I am hoping for the best, as I can not see anything but straight on mine. The proof will be in the pudding I guess, when I fly it! Good luck to all of you who are having difficulties here. I am sure it will be taken care of in short order. Thanks for your help.

Truthfully though...It might not be that big of a deal. The stab on my 33% extra would work its way loose from the tube inside the tail expanding. I remember having about a 1/2 inch of play at the tips in the stab and never noticed it in the air.

What ever though...time will tell.

Well,

I unboxed both of mine and took pics of them.....

Both are twisted...one a little more than the other...both with the right stab tube lower.

Double whammy here. Sorry to hear about the problems,...this is a real bite. But , it will get taken care of.

Too bad about the Red Bull covering ...it was sweet.

Also, I called a friend in Chicago who was busy building his for the last couple of days...his is bent also...He was in disbelief as I talked him through it on the phone .....

Here are my pics. Both bent, 1 a little more than the other.

Rather than aligning the stab tube "in" the wing tube, so all you see is black. try positioning yourself slightly higher or lower, so that one of the tubes is just above the other, leaving a gap inbetween, if you have a light colored background, then it should be very apparent since the "gap" won't be uniform along the length of the tube.

Wayne (or Chris) are these things numbered in any way ? Serial numbers, boxes marked, anything, I'm just curious if it can be traced back to a certain builder, or a certain day, or anything. It seems the 1st 20 were fine, and all of a sudden a rash of several bad ones all at once, I'm just thinking they were all part of the same "lot" or something.

I will gues that the fuses with problems might be the ones more exposed to humidity, cold, and warm days! the trip on the boat was long and lots of weather changes!

With wings and stabs mounted my surfaces align perfectly. I am happy with the kit and look forward to the maiden flight this weekend, weather permitting.

I may be talking out my ***** here but my guess is that there are a few jigs that are being used to build these planes.
One just happens to be off a tiny bit. As to why most slope right and a few slope left???.... I have no idea.
Maybe Chris can chime in to tell us a little more about the build process.

That pic is a little fuzzy, I will repost a better view . The flash was on with that pic and it looks funny. But they are both bent.

I have faith in EF , these things are gorgeous, and it will be worth the wait.

When you put the wings and stabs on it only gets worst. Check it out. If you can't see the slope then yours is fine, it is pretty noticable.

"Red Bulls do Cry!"

Look at the silver lining though, at least I didn't take the canopy and the cowling to the painter. That was scheduled for next week.

Ric, sorry about the extra work lost, man. I love that scheme. No way to save the graphics , huh?? Sux.

I aint giving up on it , all I gotta do to get rid of the doldrums is watch the videos from Atlanta. It fires me right back up.

I had a bad Sunday, and I am still addicted.
