Dave about where did you place your batteries with the Hide canister ? I used the KS 75 can and mine is bigger and set back futher but about the same weight.
I'm at the point of locking down all the wires and stuff for the innards of the fuse and need an idea where I
should stuff the batterey.
The KS /MTW 75cc cannister needed some mods to get some airspace around it but with out cutting the header or the plane up it worked out and it's right on the CG.
I guess I just need some input to where the CG ends up with the stock Muff or Can up front.

Den,

I have an MTW "?" mark header and can for this plane. My header doesn't show the angles you have at the can intake. Is yours stock, or, did you cut and weld to get that orientation?

How are you guys running the antenna wire? if somebody has a nice inconspicous method, I'd love to see it.

That is the failsafe setup.

3 leads plug into the receiver.
1 lead is for charging
1 lead 14 guage is for the battery
and the switch is connected directly to the regulator.

call if you have any questions.

Drew

Drew, why do you have 4 leads coming out of your regulator and then the switch? I only have two leads and my switch?

I cut and welded it only because the it didn't line up by 1/2 the diamiter , I called DA to see what matierial it was ans they said it's stainless steel.
I have a small welding setup so I went for it.
The Chip Hide Can has a smaller Dia @ the back so I guess it fits better past the gear block I just went with what I had.
I used High Temp 600 deg RTV silicone blobs to secure it and it's not going anywhere.

Den,

Bill,
I am in San Antonio as well. I'm at Randolph for a few months for instructor training. I have a Yak coming this week as well. I'd like to ask you a few questions about your set-up. I'll send you a PM. Thanks Nick

Anyone who is after a perfectly lined up header for the Yak may wish to contact KS. I have spent some time working with them to get it spot on as their new pipe is so wide it needs to be perfectly centered and i am selling them as part of a combo deal with the Yak, all sold by the way before anyone starts asking questions[8D]. Anyway we got through four of them and it fits perfectly, one piece steel cut to any length you want.

John,

Good to hear from you !!! I have 2X 4400mah Li-Ions one on the motorbox side and one on the top of the motorbox. Cg is on the trailing edge of the yellow strip. Test flew it today, and it felt great !!!

Few problems are keeping me from flying my Yak....first one of my brand new Hite 5945 quits when I was setting up the radio then now I can get the engine to start. bear in mind that this is my first gas engine.
ZDZ 50 with Falkon ignition. 6v to ignition using regulator. How can I check and see if my ignition OR the sensor is bad? Thanks in advance

Pull the spark plug out, stick the plug wire on it, hold the threads of the plug against the fins on the cylinder head and turn the prop through by hand. You don't have to flip it fast like with a magneto, you should see (and hear) a spark every time the magnet passes the sensor.

Same, glad to hear your response. I saw your post a while back about the pipe. Is your motor new? and did you seem to have a on the pipe off the pipe feel when in a hover. If your motor is new i'm sure it's to early to tell.

Are you running a true turn spinner too. Did you need it for balance? Sorry for all the questions.

Wayne,

I plan to use the stock (DA) muffler: we don't have noise restrictions here, and I think the engine will be easier to tune. Do I need the extra power of the cannister, or you guys use it for noise restrictions?

Thank for the info.

The muffler provides plenty of power for anything you'd want to do with the Yak.

The stock muffler is not loud. I don't know why everyone assumes that is. Most lawn mowers make more noise than these engines do.

If you can't get the plug out, you can stick a screwdriver, allen wrench or any metal rod into the spark plug boot, then hold the metal rod (with an insulated handle) close to the cylinder, close enough that the spark will "jump the gap" but not so close that you can't see it, then turn the engine over, might take two people for that, since with the plug still in there, you'll have to overcome compression.

Find someone who has used gas engines close to you that can help you . You dont want to mess up your engine or have trouble when you get it ready to fly.
