The actual weight of the prop is not that important except for smooth flywheel effect at idle.

Neo, why are you sweating 15.25 lbs? That is insanely light for a plane this size! Only a few years ago planes of this size were easily over 20 lbs. You are second guessing yourself too much and spending far too much time behind the keyboeard
-GO FLY THE THING!!!!!!

Run what combo works for you -of course .
Flywheel effect is another thing and basically the further out the weight is centered, the more flywheel effect will occur.
So -a light prop of larger diameter can have more flywheel effect than a heavier shorter prop -
I have found that for me the stiffer the blade -the better the performance.
On our electrics this really shows up in that the wide blades (the slow fly type) can limit performance simply due to blade wavering

So, I'm ordering a stock muffler tonight and the Pitts is coming off. That will then put me down to 15.25 pounds, and I "should" be back up to 7100-7200 rpms.
As for too much time behind the keyboard... believe me I'd rather be flying. Not much you can do about it when we've had 30-40 degree weather with rain, snow and 20-40mph winds for the last 3 weeks! EVERY FREAKIN DAY!!! [:@]
This weekend is supposed to get back up in the 70's and sunshine... but, I've got a family reunion on Sunday [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I lived in Cincinnati in the 70's and enjoyed the friggen weather there ----
Now - we have rain here -wall to wall and still have up to 40 feet of snowpack.
So I am going flying Saturday, barring another l rain.
Back in 83 -our field went under 3 ft of water for the next 2 years -

Well guys,
After 7.5 LOOOOOOOOOONG weeks of the hardest thing I've ever had to do, I amgoing home today...it will be several months before I am back to full capacity but God's been good.
I almost died twice, lost 44 lbs (190 now) and haven't had more than a few "good days" since the first two weeks. thanks to all those who well wished and kept contact.... sorry if I missed responding, but your messages were greatly appreciated.
I'm feeling pretty well and have permission to fly as long as I wear a mask to protect from fungal infections..
My Yak (now on REAL topic) is waiting for a couple minor finishes and I'll be able to fly it for the first time...
Haven't been ab'e to wtch this thread, but I hear it's been all over the spectrum. Hope the most of you are enjoying your EF Yak as much as I know I will.
Anywho... take care and see you all more often.

The wires are coated. There is no need to do anything to them at the point where they cross.

Hey Maudib, I have followed this thread and it needed you back to keep it on track. Glad to hear things went well for you and best wishes on a full and quick as possible recovery. This hobby and the friends I have made in it over the years are priceless. Hope you can get back in the air soon. Craig

Maudib, good to hear you are back home. Hope you get to fly your Yak soon. I have not been able to fly for the past few weeks due to the weather. I have 10 flights on mine so far...this is my favorite plane right now. Hope to fly today.

Welcome back Maudib!
On a lighter note, as Neo has told you, the weather has sucked for the past 3 weeks.
I hope to finish my Yak tonight and Maiden tomorrow afternoon if all goes well.

What Chip meant to say is that Neo had a blast flying your Yak Dave and now since you are back he really needs to get back to work on his own so he can continue having fun. One more thing, Neo did all the risky flying on yours and soon he will even try some on his!

HI all, I've been following this thread and still wounder what makes this plane so popular, is it the lightness or the accessories that come with the kit, or is it just that you have to have one to be one of the boys.
I personally set a goal for myself after buying a DA 50 that was to have the next plane I owne to be 15 lbs, I"m tired of flying a brick, then I see this thread of a 3D plane, guess what, 15 lbs, I"m almost sold on getting one.
