You might try some hard tires to make slipped landings easier - about the best I have found -for this size plane --are the Pro Lite 3" from Horizon .
These have large wheels and low profile tires so they don't dig in like the fat doughnut types.
There are also some plastic-y things from KAVAN but quality is nicht sehr goot.
Hamilton Ohio- I was once in the Loveland Propbusters ---My son Guy and I flew in pattern contests with Mike and his dad- when Mike was just 11 years .
That's been about lebenty years?
maybe more ---

this is really getting outta hand with BARCC and now his counterpart EFYAK. I think its time to see what the guys and RCU have to say about these dynamic duo's.

To do this is the most proficient manner......

To all,

This is a discussion thread about the EF YAK. Any other sort of discussion should be made in an appropriate forum. If we do not have a forum for that discussion, then it does not belong here on RCU. PERSONALLY, I do want everyone to enjoy themselves while visiting the pages of RCU. UNFORTUNATELY, there are those that spoil the fun. I can only ask that everyone try to follow the guidelines here on RCU. I invite ANY of you to REPORT misbehaven activities. Through our reporting system, it allows the RCU administrating team the opportunity to handle matters in a quiet and correct manner........ so please, instead of posting those PLEASE GO AWAY comments, send us (moderators) a notice of the activity.

Instead of sending everyone an individual PM, I am going to start clearing posts that do not belong here.

As always, thank you for cooperating.

JJ,

BBriBro is using one and I am using a FPE which is also a Sachs based engine. The performance seems to be fine. I am still trying to get the right prop combo. BBriBro says his is great.

I would not have any problems recommending this one to anybody on this plane.

Hey guys, anyone bother to measure their air inlet/outlet ratio through the cowl?? I did and found that I only had a 1:1.2 in/out ratio[:@] Thinking that this may be contributing to my problem, I cut the covering out of a couple bays at the bottom of the fuse in the pipe tunnel. I am now almost a 1:2.5.
Other than that, the only thing I found was that the reeds weren't fully seated, so I flipped them. I am going to try to get a couple flights in this weekend to see how it goes...

Ahhhhh.......makes sense. Well, here are some pics of my near completed yak. I used the same basic method as jrjohn for the firewall fix. I think the piece that doubles the firewall was 3/16" ply. Added some BIG tri-blocks on the ends and the smaller tristock in the middle. I drilled the bolt heads and added a piece of .032 wire for safety. For the hatch latch I filled the gap where the align tab used to be with a small piece of ply then added the doubler on the other side. That gives me twice the material for the latch to hold to. I went overkill on the cowl mounts adding triple tri-stock. I used the PSP fastners as others have and agree, these are very solid. I did use the 3/32 ply/baking soda/CA on the back of each hole for the mounts. This allowed the PSP fastners to grip properly without sanding them down. I did have to bore out the mount tabs slightly to accomodate the extra thickness of the ply and the fastners. It works out nice though since when placing the cowl on each fastner seats down into the recessions and holds the cowl in place while bolting it down. I used the 4-40 3/4" socket heads and blind nuts for the mounts.......Rock solid! I had some rubber U-channel trim and used it around the cutouts in the cowl.......no real reason really. Still have a few things to do but should be ready in a week or two.

Very nice job there mate. Looks like you are a bit short on the old fuel tubing though.

Hello, i am running the DA 50 with the MTW canister on the yak, the engine revs to about 6800 rpm's but feels sluggish in the air, is this because it's still breaking in or do i need to lean out some more because of the canister?
