Personally I liked the fight about who stole the Yak design from who better.

I must say guys that I am really pissed at China. Our Govt. needs to step in somehow with this copy right issue that china feels free to just do whatever they want with. I am not pissed at Chris just bothered that as loyal customers we are stuck and left with nothing to look forward too. When Chris told us he was going to China in June then July that gave us hope. No word yet if he went or not. I know people have waited for years to get this Yak. Patients really needs to prevail in this situation which I am terrible with patients and Chris probally could attest to that. I am finally extremely happy now that I bought Cadconversions Yak. I am so looking forward to puttting my DA that has been sitting for months and months into this Yak finally. I have to admit that I also am on the list for the QQ yak but I am dissapointed that Wayne from QQ tells me that "why would you buy the EF yak and miss out on the best Yak built?" This was months ago. Anyhow I am looking forward to joining the ranks of haveing a EFyak to fly. I can't wait to get this airboirne. Thanks Again to Kevin for parting with this wonderful aircraft.

I am still going to stay on the list for the next shipment so I will have a spare of this possible collectors item. But hope it doens't come down to that.

Marcus, glad you will enjoy the yak.

Just a note...In Feb. I get a wild hair to fly a 50cc plane. I sale off a bunch of electric stuff and 3 days later I have my name on a list and a yak on the way a month later. All of you complainers, why didn'y you have your name on the list? I waited a total of like two months top for the plane and had never heard of it till Feb.

If you missed out on the first batch, it was becuase you were slow to get on the list or to find out about this plane. Maybe you weren't willing to put your money were your mouth was until someone else took the plunge first. Now, that everyone knows how great the plane is your upset that you didn't get one.

Just can't figure people out sometimes.

Note, the above was not reflected toward anyone just a personal feeling I get reading some of these post.

Marcus, I doubt very much Chris holds a patent on the Yak. He did not design the Yak, it's a Russian design. We just got done fighting about this last week. Go back a few pages and read.

Good point, I was one of the ones on the list since day one, I waited 2 years for mine. I remember reading countless posts about "vaporware" and stuff like that, no one had any faith, and just like you said, now that the plane has proven itself, they are last on the list, I guess more people should have had faith from the beginning. If you were skeptical and didn't trust a stranger and an unknown company fine, but that's no reason to be mad now.

Yak owners. For those of you that didn't tristock your cowl mount tabs, do it. By the tenth flight, all my tabs were dangling...

If anyone wants us to host EF Yak video here is a place to do so:

http://www.shutupandfly.com/photopos...ry.php?cat=534

You can upload, link, do what ever you want in this gallery - as long as it's an EF yak video. I've limited the upload size to 30MB. If you need more send me a PM.

PILOT REPORT

I just cracked the 60 flight barrier on my EF YAK. I have to admit, I love this plane.

It seems every plane does something well (even if its just going straight) and other things no so well. The EF Yak on the other hand does everything very well. Probably one of the coolest meneuvers the is inverted elevator coming tword yourself, it locks in so tite it just incredible. Then about 20 feet from the flightline just push foreword on the stick and hang into a torqueroll.

The plane is rock solid, nothing coming apart except for the pull pull wires keep coming loose (pulling out) from the tensioners. Anybody have a fix for that?

I'd like to have a second plane, The EF Yak would be my first choice for sure. There is no way I'd buy the QQ Yak or anything else unless I saw it fly, flew it or had enough positive feedback from people that had flown both before I bought one. I'm spoiled

I'm also a DA believer. I had some troubles with my engine, I sent it back Next day air Via DHL on monday, Had in back on Wednesday! Spoke with Dave. He has to be the nicest man I have ever talked to.

On another side note, I am flying my Yak this weekend at an IMAC event in southern Ohio. Wish me luck!
Ric,
Good job this weekend at the IMAC.
For only your second contest you should be happy with how you flew.

And,
Thanks for calling for me.

QQ's manual says to strip the coating off the end of the pull pull cables (the part that stays inside the pullpull attachment) and after you fold it over, tin it with solder... seems like a good idea, but I read somewhere (only one guy) that he couldn't get it to take silver solder even with flux...

I replaced mine from the get go with Dubro and crimps... not a problem since...

Hello,my name is Paul, and I am an EF YAKaholic. I maidened mine on Sunday, and I still have a good buzz going. This plane has no bad habits. It is comfortable in all attitudes, straight..inverted..knife edge..uplines..downlines. It stops wherever you put it , & goes wherever you point it.It really does make the pilot look good. It is the smoothest, most graceful plane I have ever flown. My hats off to Chris Hinson. The EF Yak is the prototype for the state of the art 50cc platform. In one word, this plane is AWESOME!

If you own a Yak and havent already rated it...take a minute and put your collective thoughts in one place.

I don't know how accurate those ratings are. I just read the 4 that are there, One guy gave it a 3 for everything, (the default settings) even though he claims the firewall flew off in flight !! Assuming this did happen, he should have rated it poor for some catagories, (unless the firewall comes off of every airplane he flies, in which case I guess that would qualify as "average" to him) and even if it did come apart in flight, I think we all agree that the performance capabilities are the best around, so that still should have received high marks, I think some people like to post just to be posting.

I agree... and he doesn't even have a right to rate it since it wasn't his plane but a "buddies".

How can he rate a "buddies" plane without knowing if the guy glued the engine box top on correctly, added the tristock and didn't weaken anything when attaching the battery & ignition?

So his "average" rating was based on second hand knowledge. That's bogus...

About the broken firewall:

This past weekend Wayne Geffon and I were talking about the Yaks and how people are taking advantage of Chris' good nature. According to Wayne this guy called him and said his firewall just flew off in flight. Of course Wayne had a hard time believing it and asked him to send pics. So the guy calls Chris and gets a new fuse to replace his questionable one. In the meantime Wayne finds out the guy broke off his wheel pants in a crashed landing. So he makes the statement that maybe you broke the firewall in that crash...

If this is the way that it is supposed to be... Wayne I think JR owes you a new plane for letting your crystal fall out. Maybe the Indiana State Park Service will give me a new Extra 330 because of the tree they put in my way a few years back. How about that time the ground suddenly jumped and hit my Ultimate, God owes me for that one.

It will be a great day when all people take responsibility for their own actions instead of trying to find someone else to blame. How many times have you seen some one crash and the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "it was radio failure" I am sure that a few weeks back I could have told Chris that my gear broke on a regular landing, and he would have given me a new set, neglecting to say that it was regular only if Stevie Wonder was flying. The truth is, I landed too hard and they twisted and broke, so I PAID (a novel idea) for a new set. People wonder why we defend things so strongly, it is because of liars like this that make me want to fight back a little......

About IMAC,

I had a great time, I am glad that I started flying in IMAC, it will make me a better pilot. For the past several seasons I have not gotten any better, but in just two meets I have already seen some good changes and improvements. My recommendation is to get to at least one IMAC this Summer.

Wayne: Thanks for all your help! I must say you had me scared watching my Yak doing all of those crazy 3D stunts. I was trying to remember if I taped my crystal in Thanks for letting me call for you, next time can I talk?[X(]

Ric, I don't think the firewall case was the one wayne was talking about. Look back and you'll see it was the landing gear that "just fell off" This firewall case is something new I believe.

John

P.S. I reniforced my firewall, it was a little weak on the bottom

Yep I agree...these things are made mostly of wood and wood breaks! A couple pages ago I saw some pics where the landing gear and some of the gear crutch was ripped out supposedly due to faulty workmanship. Well I ripped mine out on a harrier landing that was a bit hard and my fault...the result was almost exactly the same as those pictures. Phone call to Chris and I ordered a new set of gear (it had been delaminating previous to this), a new canopy (some of the wood had broken away from the frame) and paid for them both. Then I set about fixing the fuse.

People seem to think these things are supposed to last forever. Hard landings are hard on the aircraft and can do damage that may not be noticeable until 2 or 3 flights later.

Oh well...it just means we all pay higher prices for our arfs. One way or another, we pay.
