What happened with the chip Hyde quiet pipe? Are you using it? Are you using the stock muffler?
The last thing I remember is that you made some test on both mufflers and you got better numbers on the Chip Hyde muffler, but then for some reason you decided to install the stock muffler!
Why was that?
How much silent is the Chip Hyde pipe?

Hello Again Everyone,
Thought I would give you an update on the FedEx issue.. Today I received the new fuselage, canopy and cowl from Chris who I want to thank for getting me on the road to enjoying this wonderful airplane. FedEx payed for it to be shipped next day air from GA to WA. I haven't opened the box but there isn't a scratch on the box... I also want to thank cadconversions for all his help and paying for the new parts until FedEx shows up with the money for their destruction to the last airplane. Thanks to the both of you and I can't wait to get this in the air so I can experience what everyone is so excited about with this plane.
Marcus
I hope the 35% is going to be just as wonderful..

Marcus, I'm back in town now, so we can order the parts we went over. I'm sure your just itching to get that thing in the air about as much as I'm looking forward to getting the Extra.
Glad to hear everything worked out getting the new Yak. That first one was ugly.
Anyways, I'll call you.

I found it funny watching the video over a couple of times, that what looks so precise on the ground really shows up as not being that way in the plane. For example from the ground, my four points look nice and clean. From the plane they are sloppy off by a bit.

BTW Mike, you're flying looks mighty good, even from the onboard.

Maybe all IMAC events should require onboard cameras, and the judges can have live monitors....I bet that would lower the scoring. What do ya think of that Wayne?

I have a hard enough time trying to hide my mistakes as it is..

That onboard cam was really neat! Made it look like a full scale flight. I thought the landing looked especially cool.

I have finally gotten off my arse and am finishing the assembly of my Yak. I have seen where some guys have had problems with the lower engine mount area cracking. Here's my fix. I used carbon fiber and West Systems epoxy resin. Total weight gain was only 1/2 oz! Photo attached.

Stupid ING sytems. I've been down for over a month trying to figure out why my DA will not run. Last time it ran I flew it and it worked well, landed hit the kill switch, BSed a bit. Tried to start it and got nothing. Packed up went home. A couple days later I tried agian, and again nothing. I tore into it and found....nothing. put it all back together and got....nothing. Gave up and let it sit for a couple weeks. Finally called DA and they said to send it in sounded like the ignition moduel went out. Well I still don't have it off the plane again, sometime this weekend I think I will get it off and pack it up.
Anyway I might have a DA/Yak/9811 combo for sale. I started hang gliding and time for RC has been very short, if not nill. Once I get the engine back I'll get another day or so of flying and see if I want to keep it or if it's time to move on. ( I could get a good glider for the cost of this Yak.)

Mark!
Where the F have you been? We havent seen you at any IMAC's this year. Dont say your busy at work cause I know better.
I dont know if this has been mentioned before but, the large black and red connectors that DA has on their ingnition need to be changed to something else before you fly. The problem with them is that there is no support inside the connectors for the pins and they break from vibration. CHassan, maybe thats soemthing to check if you are still using that connector.

No such problems with either of my two DA's... but I'm sure it can happen.

Wayne, I have never changed mine and never had one come loose. In fact, I have never heard of that happening till you mentioned it. What are you using, maybe I will change mine. My DA100 has 3 years and over 100 gallons thru it on the original stuff from DA. I might be pressing my luck here. Clue me in.

I have switched the connectors to standard servo connectors (I think I got that info from Wayne way back when I was thinking of getting a Yak).
I've switched out everything I could switch out (batt., regs, plug), bypassed everything I could bypass (used a 4.8 nicad batt, passed the kill switch, changed on/off switch. Still to no avail.
It appears I am getting intermittent or no spark so in talking with DA they said to send it in and they would check it out. I'm also borderline with having the new mods, (my serial # is right around the time they started switching.) so they are going to look it over and make sure everything is up to date.

Jeff,
I had two of the DA connectors break on my first DA and they both broke in the same manner.
If you havent had any trouble thats good news.
I always change them now though. I just solder a female end of an extension on the the igntion.
