Be careful with the throw settings on the transmitter. According to Troy Built Models, the throws at the transmitter should not be set over 120% when using the Hitec 5955 TG. I have copied their cautionary note below. Apparently any setting over 120% causes problems.
Stand back! This is the most powerful servo in its class.
Hitec recommends 6v for giant scale use.
Do not use travel adjustments higher than 120%.
I don't understand why this warning is not plastered all over every Hitec ad.

120% might be so on JR... but on Futaba? No more than 100% INCLUDING any mixes you might have...
Usually you can't set it to more than 50-60% anyway due to it's default 180 degree throw...

Thanks Arrowhead. I never saw that warning and even checked my instruction booklet that came with the servo. Perhaps it is something that the added at a later date. Although my servo has never been the air it was bought last December from Tower Hobbies.
I will reset the throws and check it again.

"The only difference between the 5995 and 5955 is the lack of the heatsink case and travel. The 5995 is set for 180 degrees of travel so you should use the programmer to reduce this and not the radio or you will lose resolution. "
This may be part of the confusion.
BTW, I have a 5955 on my rudder and it is set to 140%, and so far I have not had any issues.

Sounds great! I prolly wont get to fly mine for awhile but Im not in a huury...yet!
Ya know before I asked about the arms I matched the supplied CF arm against the SWB arm..In the manual it says to use the second hole on the CF arms for the ailerons..When I matched it up to the SWB arm the last 2 holes matched up perfectly with the 2 holes on the CF arm ! I was all set to just use the 3rd hole from the output shaft (the second one in from the end)..good thing I didnt [X(]

Not a big deal if you did but you'd have more ail throw than needed.
I flew one guys EF Yak that had 80 degrees of ail throw in each direction. Fun, but at the extreme throw they blew back a little if the plane had any speed on it.

The geometry is set for 1" or 1-/14 ( I dont remember exactly which)

I'm thinking about getting the EF Yak (when they come in). I have a 3W 60 (24x10) that pull's a 19 pound plane out of sight straight up (in Denver). Will the prop have ground clearance on that Yak? Will the 3W 60 be too heavy up front? Talk to me guy's. RV

The Yak has no trouble with prop clearance. I was using a 24" prop without any trouble.

that 3W 60 is currently on a 27% edge540 with 1164si. of wing with a span of 81inches and I'm flying it hard. Fast wall's, hover's, slow high A knife edges, and more. I just thought it would do better on that bigger Yak.

With that motor on the Yak plan on the plane being just shy of 18 pounds.
With that being said, your wing loading will be around 28.5 oz/sqft. Not bad but not like the amazing wing loading of 24 that we are seeing with this plane.
Nobody says you have to have a DA in this plane. Use what you have and have fun.
