Jim,

The geometry of the PP system is dead on.
Use the supplied horns and servo arm (Or the SWB)
Put the rudd servo where its supposed to go and you'll wind up with a great PP system without any slack.

Guys ... I've got one in the marketplace for sell. It's in great shape, is built clean, and flies straight. Love it, but moving on ...

This thread was a huge help when I was building/setting it up. Thanks to all!

Just an FYI for fellow Yakers.

Had the need to replace a rudder, horizontal stab, c/f stab tube and 2 wing panels. Called Chris and he indicated he the parts so i placed the order. Three days later i received two wing panels including the ailerons, with wing bags, the horizontal stab including an elevator with bag, c/f tube and rudder all with the proper hardware packages.

In other words i received much more than i was expecting (totally forgot about needing control horns etc.etc etc). Fortunately Chris did not forget......guess what i'm saying is that i was impressed with his customer service and continued support of this product.

So if any of you Yakers need any parts do not hesitate to give Chris a call.

Side Note: I had a chance to view some of the internal construction of the wings, rudder and stab and was able to view (unfortunately...LOL) some of the excellent engineering contained within this ARF. The was C/F tape used throughout the structure, in critical areas, which explains the strength and lightness of this model......IMPRESSIVE!

He is at work getting the next great airplane ready ! Extreme Flight will rock 2006 ! I cant wait . Quote from Chris at his web page. "what about the big planes! Yes, I want one too! The factory in Malaysia will specialize in 50cc and bigger airframes. I along with a small team will leave for Malaysia right after ringing in the new year in January. We will stay through the first production run of aircraft. I am taking Mike Hall with me, along with one of the most respected custom builders in the industry. We will be training what are already highly skilled workers to build our planes, down to the smallest detail. We plan on doing the new 50cc release first, followed by the 107†Yak. Look for a 40% release shortly thereafter. The wheels have been in motion for several months on this project and our laser machines have been purchased and are to be delivered to the factory mid December. The facility is very modern with a climate controlled work environment and will be managed by a very competent group of workers and businessmen. Quality control will be very strict and each aircraft will pass through several stages of inspections. Our goal is to raise the level of quality of our aircraft to that of a custom builder. We are going to extremes to achieve this, as we know that most of you will settle for nothing short of the best. Neither will we. Look for the first shipments to begin reaching our shores around April 2006. "

Thanks for your reply wayne. well I have 86 8-10 min flights on the yak. One thing I cannot get it to do is a smooth harrier from high alltitude. The plane just wants to wing walk quite badly. I've adjusted the cg a couple of times. It doesn't seem to help!!!!!. The plane came out to be 15 1/4 lbs with da50, stock da muffler ect. my flying experience tells me that the moment, and tail design has a factor to this.. What could i do to improve this.. Thanks Trevor

Trevor,

CG shouldnt make that much of a difference with the Yak.
My first guess is elevator travel. Do you have absolutely the most you can get and are you using it?
If the plane is walking or wing rocking your not deep enough into the stall.

How about power settings? How much are you using?

I am using the stock hitec plastic wheel with the carbon servo arm.I set it up as per instructions. As far as throw, I believe its maxed out, but I will check that this afternoon. It seemes like when I don't put it full deflextion the plane feels more stable in that stall point. At that point I can fly around at a low degree of attitude befor I go to far, then it starts to wing walk???? Hey wayne would their be a phone # I can reach you at!!! Then next time I go flying I can check the throws ect, and try what you recommended?? Thanks Trevor

I don;t have enough flights on mine to know, but that manuever is in one of the videos ....I'm pretty sure...I am going looking.

I thought the 107" Yak was going to be the biggest I went. But if EF is going to offer a 40% ship......

good to know... I did not need it on my Yak (QQ, but it doesn't mean I am a bad person...)
but it did help on a few other planes......

agreed about the stall angle....
each plane has a different "sweet spot" on where it harriers nicely...... the trick is to find the spot....

LOL.

The QQ is an awesome plane.
Now if you said T--/A-------M-----/K-- that would be a different story.

I am sure it would help but thats not getting at what is really wrong with Trevor's plane. I am sure whatever his issue is, its an easy fix.
His set up sounds like mine and a lot of other peoples. He cant be very far from the solution.

Wayne,

I just got done watching your " Wayne gets down " video, and there are some prime examples of the manuever in it. Not to mention a Harrier Landing touch-n-go......re-post it.

Wayne,
I think Mike (PITSBRO) filmed that one. The one where you where doing rollers with the wings almost touching the grass and the landing harriers into the wind.

Default RE: Extreme Flight 87" Yak 54 - Build & Fly

Hello fellas,

I would love to know the solution on the wing rocking. I have YAK 87, DA50 standard ex w/smoke, 8611 all round -throttle with SWB on all, AUW 16lb 6 oz with smoke system, elev darn near,if not, Bevel to Bevel and I have lots of wing rock - added a some spoiler and moved cg around with no major improvement. I have just finished another YAK 87 with the same setup, AUW 15lbs 5.6 oz, (no smoke) have not flown this yet due to the potential record setting rain streak in Portland, OR(we are on about 30 days straight now). I'm very interested to see how this plane will react in the same maneuver. I would love to get it right!

Thanks
V
