Lunchtime Folly:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
as I count Yaks instead of sheep.
Across the ocean far and wide,
comes a special ship with pride.
For on that ship is a plane,
upon whose box is scribed my name.
It looks just like the others there,
with destinations everywhere.
In my mind I've built it true,
and flown in flawless skies of blue.
No antiquated NiMH's in mine
on lightweight Lions I'll rely.
Smart-Fly products in it be,
and powered by the epitomy
of engines powerful and strong,
a DA-50 will fly it long.
I used the pipe, the reason plain,
to quote a friend "power insane".
Carbon fiber spinner & prop,
but nothing left needing hopped up.
For Chris has thought of everything,
even bags, for fuse, stabs & wings.
HD ball links, phenolic horns
composite gear this plane adorns.
No scrimping here, this plane's the one.
why even pushrods are titanium.
I just can't wait to hear the sound
of that 23x8 Meijzlic spinnin' 'round.
Line her up and give the gas,
tail comes up, airborne at last.
What happens next is just for me,
I cannot describe it faithfully.
The spins, the snaps, the hovering
defies attempts at describing.
Elevators and walls so flat,
IMAC sequences are a snap.
Harriers so stable be
without the hint of wingrocking.
Enjoy her boys,
she's as good as it get's
And support Extreme Flight
where recognition rests.
For bringing us this awesome bird
that excites us so there are no words
to describe the excitement height
we haven't felt since our first flight.

DA states no real advantages... it get's a little noisier.
Make sure you don't cut it so short that it doesn't clear the cowl... you'll get all that icky black stuff from the engine break in on the inside of the firewall...

I just cut the muffler for looks and I dont care if it gets noiser!
looking at Waynes pictures looks like almost the hole tube is sticking out of the cowl, so I just cut 1/2 of the tube I think it will stick enough...

Congratulations Aerosplat... on the maiden AND being the very first customer to fly his own 87" EF Production Yak...
Seemed the wind was blowing pretty good, yet the Yak wasn't being buffeted much by it.
Both vids are sweet... thanks a ton Wayne for taking the itme out to edit, compress and upload them.
I can't believe it's almost February already... we'll all be building our before you know it.

I'm considering putting a big yellow "1" on the rudder. "1" for being the first, Yellow because I was too "Chicken" to do the Maiden take-off myself.

Nice Poem,
Chris needs to frame that.

Tee hee... I noticed that! But who better to fly the plane than the designer himself! Heck I would have had it autographed...

Maudid,
You are starting to lose it.
Someone get this man a Yak.
Feel like driving to Central Illinois on Saturday? I am going to try and get mine in the air that day and your welcome to come get a flight or two.

typing in c...a....l....e...n...d...e...r...c...o...m..

Thanks Wayne for the offer...that is way to kind... man wouldn't I love to come out that way!
I've got so much to do and can't spare the time away... my hands are really tied behind my back...
Besides... I'm not sure I can convince my attendants....errr buddies to untie the sleeves of my new white coat... and they won't give me anything sharp to write your address down with. (my crayons are all broke)
Anyone know how well Elmer's paste glue works on hinges?

Winter Sucks.
I'd be going crazy without these things.
