oh, yeah...

Thanks for the most head spinning debate on the battery technology, Maud, and Steve. Lot of good info in there.

What do you want to debate next?? let's see,...we've done fuel line, pipe ( not quite done) , servos, switches, batts, spinners, props, how about receivers???
We kinda skipped receivers, but now we hit on digital scales !! This thread has pretty much hit all the topics ! Actually thanks to you guys I am going to research scales now, I didn't know they were that cheap, I always borrow a friends, and his only goes to 10 lbs or so, so I can never weigh a completed airplane, only it's parts.

Dick, you can get the Escali scale off Ebay for half of what office depot charges. (about 15 dollars plus shipping possibly) I checked mine and it's dead balls accurate (thats an industry term) I found the same scale on many reseller sites and it was going for around 50 bucks.

David, I purchased the 33# scale. I think and this is my opinion... the smaller the pound range, the less margin of error. I think they post the margin of error somewhere in the description on e-bay.

I figure a 33# scale should take care of planes up too 35% I know it would be nice to weigh the 40% guys planes. but hey, if they have a 5000 dollar plane you think they could buy their own scale.

yes this thread is putting out a lot of information. Thats cuase we have a ton of guys with nothing to do cause our planes are out on a ocean somewhere and we need something to do with our idle minds.

Servo question???............................

I just don't know anymore and I am ready to order.

Any comments or opinion would be greatly appreciated, let's keep it relevant to the EF 87 Yak wrt weight and size.

Thank you.
I have used all of the servos in your dilemma and I have not had any problems with any of them. I really like the 5945s, but for the Yak I chose the 5925s, I am running them on 6 volts (well 5.7 actually, thanks to the fromeco adjustable regulators) so I have the recommended 125 oz of torque, and they are very fast. Maybe I can learn to do some nice ratchet rolls with these things. I like coreless servos, I have some of their 56xx servos too, digital, but not coreless. If you're running 6 volts you can't go wrong, cause then you'll get more speed out of the 5945 (if that's a concern) , or more torque out of the 5925 (if thats your concern) , either way should be fine. I also have the 5955 on the rudder, I bought it just because it's the lastest and greatest, lots of torque in a small package, It's quite a bit slower (on paper) but in the airplane it seems just fine.

I'm still researching I'm thinking I need two scales, one for the heavy airplanes (up to 35lbs) and one for shockflyer types, (up to 400 grams) can you weigh a 6 oz model on a scale that has a capacity of 30 lbs? I wouldn't think so, but these digital scales claim to be so accurate and weigh in such small units, maybe you can.

I re-weighed everything, The Engine, Mount, bolts, prop bolt, washer and Ignition. No plug (not sure if it was included in the weight on post 90, and no muffler cause I ain't gots one. Don't have the plug either.)

Taurus 42cc 54.7 oz

DA 50cc 54.6 oz (per post 90)

Taurus 52cc (I believe only an ounce or so heavier than the 42 cc but not confirmed.) Anybody have one??

john
Yes, The plug was included in the engine weight.

Yes the 33# scale seems to weigh right down to the gram. I just weighed a 2000 Mh lipo battery, it came out at 3.3 oz exactly what it's supposed to be

p.s how do you guys get that box (line) around the quote?

Hey BriBro...

I just ordered the 6lb accurate to 1 gram/.1oz it's also plenty big enough to do the 50cc ehinges & things as well...

I have a bigger scale now good to within 4 oz for the whole plane stuff, but may get the 55 lber once I see how nice this 6 lber is...

You are typing your response inside the quote and it makes it hard to see where your responses are...

If you want to quote seperate sections and response after them, make sure the text THEY said starts with the quote and ends with the /quote...

these two words MUST be in the square brackets [] in order to work.

So here is a quote:

Here is my quote, but you can't see the programming tags because they are inside the square brackets

Another option,
Click the "Reply" button at the top of the post you want to quote. Then click on the "Quote Original" button in the reply window. You can delete anything between the {quote] and [/quote} to edit only what you want to show in the quote. Again, the actual symbols are [ ] not [ } .

Yep... that's the one... it seemed to have the best accuracy/capacity ratio.

Even I'm not so anal as to worry about 1/10th of an oz in my foamie weights...

\BTW... Thans a ton for the heads up jrjohn... very helpful indeed... I had been to e-bay a while abck lookign at some other brand... but didn't bite... these are much better and my little Pelouze scale died...

Ummm... you did it again...

Where it gets confusing is when you have a quote within a quote...

Best way I avoid it all is to select the Quote button or as suggested before click Quote Original int he text entry box...

The click my cursor at the very beginning...

This way my repsonse gets read first... and if someone is confused about what I am refering to.. they read further and see the quote I am resonding to...

O.K.

Now we've covered posting features... scales.... hmmm what next?

We really have hit all the topics !! We went from RC setups to scales, and now html codes in forums !

John, if you understand the format, you don't even need their buttons, you can just type the html, for example, type [ quote ] I'm quoting myself [/ quote ] (without the spaces at the brackets) and it looks like this:

I'm quoting myself
once you see the "format" then you can edit it to look "right" if you have quotes within quotes, it gets really messy, I usally take out most of the non importants stuff, and just quote the question I'm answering. Try typing it out, like I did, without clicking any "quote" buttons.

EDIT: Maudib, I'm laughing too, I didn't even see you had the same comment about the scales, and then the forum techniques LOL
