Extreme Flight 87" Yak 54 - Build & Fly

Okay, I have read all 63 pages, including the off topic stuff. I have some input and some questions, but my more important question is, does anyone know if Chris accepts paypal?
Also, is the first shipment already sold out, and when does ne expect more????
I have shot him an email on this, but he is obviously busy, understandably, so I haven't heard from him.

Call the number on his website. You will probably be able to reach him that way.
A friend of mine ordered one yesterday and was told that there were two left.

Anyone know when we make the main payment on the Yak? We put in the deposit already, and heard the yaks are almost ready to ship, and were wondering when we make the rest of the payment?
Thanks,
Scott

I was thinking of getting a backup just in case of premature dumb thumb. I'm guessing the two that were left won't be in a month when I have the extra cash to buy a backup[&:] I guess I'll have to be extra careful for a little while. How long does it take to look over, add hardware packs and prep for shipping a big container of Yaks like this? 10-20 per day? Just curious.

Well, I spoke with Chris today and he hopes to either get the planes tomorrow or thurs and is going to work all weekend to get them all out. He hopes to have the lot done by middle of next week. I don't think we are gonna hear or see much of him for the next week so you might as well hold off with any questions in the interim and if there are any orders or any left then you may still be able to catch him tomorrow.

Here's the Taurus 2.6 engine I plan to mount on my Yak. I'm told the 52cc is only an ounce more. This engine has a double web crank supported on both ends, so no bearing or crank problems.

Is the Taurus 52cc a newer version than the previous one, that is why it is only 1 oz more than the 2.6?

What about that new Brison R-52 series engine. I am still leaning toward DA, but if the brison is any lighter AND more powerful, then it may be an option for me, since I am flying at 6200 ft ASL...OUCH!
Currently, they are claiming 48 oz., but that's probably without ignition or spark plug, but including the stand-offs, apparently. It looks like DA claims 47.04 without standoffs, so...

I am debating whether to use Taurus 52cc or the DA 50. Do you know the Taurus 52cc would fit in the cowl without much cutting? Is the Taurus 52cc a newer version than the previous one, that is why it is only 1 oz more than the 2.6?
Thanks.

I was told that the Rev. 52 was powerful but a real shaker. I suppose that long cyclinder head and long stroke adds to the vibration.
Not first hand info, just passing it on for further investigation.

purchase from your bank account and then send the money to your bank account for free to replenish. You can use the paypal virtual credit card for the downpayment. Just give that number to chris as a master card for the deposit. Your limited on how much you can spend at a time so you've got to be careful.

If you go to "withdraw" there is an option to use a virtual credit card. After you put in the website (www.extremeflightrc.com) it will pop up a small window across the bottom with a credit card number and expiration date that you can use on a website that doesn't except paypal. It works as a Master card. Give it a shot.

ROFLMAO!!!!! I just don't like trying to justify my expenses. My wife has no idea of the value of r/c stuff, so if I were to get this plane and everything I need for it without using our joint account, she would believe me if I said it was $750. If I told her it was $2000+, SHE WOULD FLIP HER LID!!!!! AND I WOULDN'T GET ANY!!!! This, coming from a wife that has two $500 purses and a $450 wallet...wait a minute, I could sell all of them and buy everything I need right now

BTW, anyone know the weight of the RCS silencer?? Is it lighter than the Chip hyde one?
Also, anyone considering CA hinges? I am a firm believer in them and they are quick and easy to install. I just don't like working with Robarts, but I may give in...

Everything is pre-drilled for the robarts and the fit is perfect. It does take a bit of time to do but it is not a dificult process and i actually found it quite a nice change from the usual CA jobs.
Also, I personally would not feel that comfortable relying on CA hinges. When you see the surfaces on this thing in the flesh you get the impression they are going to be under some considerable load.

True that. Now, I don't want to go off on a tangent, but I have used CA hinges on aircraft in the 40% range with no problems. Of course, that was Before all this 3D stuff and outrageous control throws. I will probably use the Robarts[:'(][&o]

I posted several weights a few pages back... including the RCS in-fuse silencer... it was a couple oz heavier than the Chip Hye Quiet Pipe.
