I have just completed my Yak, it is ready to fly.

Out of curosity I weighed the plane. Ready to fly, dry weight, 15.7 lbs! This is the first time I have had a plane come out at the weight as advertised. For those in doubt, my scale is accurate.

Maiden will be Saturday morning, weather and schedule permitting.

Don, that was quick! Can't answer about the weight since I've not had my hands on it yet.

Yes, It's an easy build. Hardest thing for me was getting the canopy mounts to line up. I have had the plane since Saturday night and started on it then. Worked on it all day and evening on Sunday, Monday and Tues evening as well.

Mine is equipped with;
DA50
Standard DA muffler
8611s on flight
8411 on throttle
Choke servo
Three switches
1650ma, 4.8v Nimh on ignition
2700ma, 6v Nimh on flight
Menz 24x8
No spinner
Standard equipment and hardware from the kit

Its nice to see all the new guys checking in. I'm thinking I'll have my Yak tomorrow. I'm getting married on April 2nd to a Russian girl, and I'd like to have this plane "grandfathered" in before the marriage. I told Chris and he seemed to understand my position. I Know you guys all understand. I'll have Elena pose with the plane when it's finished.

I wonder if any Yaks are coming to Canada or if I'm the only one?

No Sir ! There are going to be two at the Flying Tigers Club near Hamilton. I'm looking forward to this season !

Hate to beat a dead horse, but I have a servo question.. the 8611 is big torque for the rudder. Is it overkill to run this on other surfaces?? I can see doing it on ailerons, but with elevators, could I go with little less torque? Like the 8411?? or is it changed to 8311 now???
If the cost difference is negligible, I'll just go with the big dog....what is price diff??
Is the 8611 same case size as others????
Got a buddy going to china in a few days, he's gonna try to track them down for me...

Thanks, Mike

8611's all the way around will be more than fine. The only downfall will be the weight, but you are only talking about an extra ounce or so.

I read that its a little bigger case wise, am I gonna have to hack things up to make them fit in wings and elevators???

The case on 8611s are only about 2mm bigger. In any event, maybe just a slight sanding of the surface to make the servo fit in, however I bet you can get away without doing it.

Mine has 8611's all the way around. The plane has aweosme response with them.
For the guys just joining this thread. Mine weighs 15lbs 6oz.

Drew, Scott from SWB, me, and a bunch of our buddies are down here in Atlanta till Sunday night.
We arrived early Wednesday morning to perfect weather. Went to Chris's shop and saw the sea of boxes. I can assure you, Chris, Russell and Mellissa are working their tails off to get you guys your Yak's. So much so, that Chris only spent about an hour at the field with us today. He then went back to the shop and was still there at 08:00PM.
Chris wrang my Yak out while he was at the field and made it all look easy.

4 more days of this!
We have tons of pics and videos already and will post next week.

With the 8611s you have to trim for fit on the ailerons. Just a little no big deal. 8611s fit without trimming on the elevators.

Actually, plane white is the alternative to the blue/red/white/yellow scheme as on the site. I don't know why he asked that, though, as I am sure if someone wants the white-only, they would have contacted him or asked him earlier.

TURNS OUT IT WAS NOT A DREAM! I checked my cell phone and had the same message, so I must have talked to him this morning, although there still is no charge on my CC...
