Well, it looks like I have officially been charged ($815 for plane, spinner, and shipping), so I am assuming it has shipped or will ship monday! Of course, my DA is on its way to them for an update, and the brand new 9303 i bought has to be sent to JR for a stick mode change, so I still probably have a month before I get everything going[:'(] I can't wait!!!

bodyworks , congrats on getting one from this shipment.

I called only 3 days after you were put on the list. Will check back first thing Monday morning to see whether there is any left from this shipment, keep my fingers crossing.
Thanks! It should be here tuesday, but the DA is likely 2 weeks out. I have all the servos and will have the receiver and batteries, etc this week, though, so I have enough to keep me busy...

ATTENTION "JR" USERS..HELP...I got an 8611 and a SWB 3" locking servo arm for my Yak rudder.
The arm will only fit on the spline much less than halfway, and that requires a LOT of force. (locking bolts not installed)
The arm package indicates it IS for JR.
The supplied JR plastic arms fit dandy.
Is this normal for this combo????

2 rolls

Don't fret, thats how the SWB horns fit, and thats why they are so good. you have to draw them down with a lot of force. You need a puller to get them off. They won't get loose on their own like some of the others. Just don't draw it down untill your sure it's in the correct position

2 Rolls, I just read your post again and have to admit I have no experience with the "locking SWB horns"
only the regular ones. So, I'm not sure if they are supposed to fit like the other SWB horns.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about the locking horns

Nope one per horn (at least I THINK so)... they may have divied out a couple extra... Mine had 3..

The rudder has 4 and you use one coming from each direction.

David
Why is there 4 of the 3/4 square plates that Go around the P horns. Are we supposed to put two of them on each set of horns?

Good deal GotSHocked! Lot's of progress in a short time. You can get your gear on right?

Try not to think of it as you didn't get your hardware in time... but rather you got the Yak a couple days sooner than if he had waited to work out the hardware packages...

When you think about it, it's costing Chris more money out of his pocket to do it this way, but he would have rather you be this far along now waiting on hardware rather than waiting ont he whole plane...

However, I don't want to add the weight for a built up cockpit either.

What does everyone think?
I'm not sure at what point you started following this thread, but did you see my cockpit ? I added just over an ounce of weight, and it looks great. [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2408226/mpage_36/key_/tm.htm]Page 36 of this thread[/link] There are some finished pics on page 38.
I saw your cockpit and it was awsome, but I am trying to lose ounces as it is, not gain them...

Umm, Ok, I was responding to cadconversions since he asked "what does everyone think"

The locking ones fit tight like the regular ones. Be sure its on right, in the right position and the splines engaged properly and draw it down. I toss the phillips head screws and replace them with cap screws.

Bri, very nice looking instrument panel but how about covering the bottom of the canopy where you can see everything inside?

The problem with most printed materials is that they will washout in the sun in very short time. It's an excellent idea in theroy though... and perhaps there would be some papaer/ink combo that would last...

I really don't think a fella can get much better results than what BriBro has done and at a weight that is very light.

BTW BriBro... can ya PM me the exact instrument set you used? I really would like to do that sometime.

The only pics that I saw were of the finished instrument cluster. Maybe I missed the others. I must say, the instrument panel was first class. I would also like the exact link (maybe you could post it). I'll go back through the post again.

Thanks,

I only used one per side of the rudder, I put the closed end tword the hinge. Oh WELL! now it's too late to add another unless I grind some epozy that oozed out between the P Horns. I think it's fine the way it is. I'm not sure it they add strength or not, maybe a little

I have to admit, this plane goes together sooo sweet. Well built, great engineering, lots of attention to detail. A home run if I have even seen one. I swear this plane can be built in one sleepless weekend if a guy wanted.

I suppose I could have posted BOTH links, rather than just suggesting someone go to page 36 and then from there go to 38
All the finished pics are [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2408226/mpage_38/key_/tm.htm]HERE ON PAGE 38[/link]

although Maudib already re-posted a few , thanks.

Since this topic has re-emerged and I do admit there are a TON of posts to sort through,
The pilot I used is a "C" size from [link=http://aircraftinternational.com/]http://aircraftinternational.com/[/link]
The panel is custom made from 1/8" and 1/16" balsa.
The instruments are part # PP41011 from [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/instruments.htm]http://www.hobby-lobby.com/instruments.htm[/link]

The panel weighs .6 oz and the pilot is .5 oz. The bottom of the canopy is covered in monokote.

and unfortunately I still haven't flown it Went from bad weather to a big home improvement project (finishing half the basement) I can't even get to the Yak or my workbench will all the crap we have moved around.
