Default Sukhoi Su26 help 72" span!!

I bought a used Sukhoi. It has a 72" span. When i seen the pictures of it, I figured it was a Carl Goldberg. When I got it home, It is nothing like a CG sukhoi. It has alot wider fuse, thick tail surfaces. It has a complete scale outline. It has a round fuse. It is powered by a quadra-US engine 42 cc. It needs some help in the covering, but it is built very strong. It could use a new canopy and cowl. If anyone has any info on this kit, I would appricate it.

I will include some before pictures. I am doing some dressing up too it.

Ohio RC used to make a Sukhoi around this size. That is the only one that I can think of.

I had a CG Suk and that one sure looks like a CG. What makes you think it's not?

I have a goldberg sukhoi that my dad built. They are nothing alike. The wing and landing gear set up is completely different. The fuse has a box construction with formers glued around the outside of the box, the entire fuse is sheet. Its not plywood like the CG sukhoi. This Su-26 is over built in about everyway. The tail surfaces are airfoiled slightly and are a 1/2 thick. They are built up and sheeted, unlike the Goldberg version. These pictures are the same pictures I seen before I bought it. I thought it was a Goldberg before I seen it in person. I will take some pictures of the two together this afternoon. Then it will be pretty obvious its not a Goldberg kit. I would say by the condition and building structor of the plane, it would be an 80's maybe early 90's kit.

I am not sure about the Ohio RC version. I seen they have a 69" and an 84". I never heard anything about a 72"? version. It might be some scratch built kit. I wondering, if i should balance near the main spar, or just go about 25% for starters? Any ideas?

Thanks, Todd

Alright, I am going too post some pictures. You will see a big difference in fin size, width and shape of fuse. You will also see a completely different way the wing goes on. I included a picture of the cowl. It could really use too be replaced. It looks pretty bad. The purple one, is the Carl Goldberg that my Dad built. If you recognize anything, let me know.

Thanks, Todd

Well I own the CG sukhoi ARF which is different from the kit built one . It has a 72 inch wingspan and the tail surfaces are airfoiled unlike the kit . The kit has flat tail surfaces that is the difference you are seeing there in your pics. The ARF comes covered in blue but someone could have re covered it. That is the best guess I can give you but goldberg is the only one I know of with a 72 inch span.

Yellow aircraft has a different rear turtle deck. I will include the picture of the Yellow Sukhoi and my sukhoi. It was a good idea though.
