Iron Bay Cessna 195
Just thought I would share some picture of my Iron Bay Cessna 195 almost ready to paint. I haven't seen one of these anywhere on the internet so maybe someone will get something out of these

I'm building one right now also.
I have the wings and tail pieces built
and ready for sanding.
I hope to start on the fuselage next week.
Did you cut out the door?
Seems alot like building a ship in a bottle.
Thanks

What engine are you using?
I'm going with a g-45 on ignition.
Attached is a photo that I took at Oshkosh last
July of the C-195 that I am modeling.

Engine for C-195
Hey Extra300s,
I'm putting the Mustang 50 in it but I would imagine the G-45 will also be a good fit. I am not cutting out the doors but if you have, I know where you can get some really great latches for them. I find it hard to get doors to line up really well and keep a scale look. I have a 125" Beaver that just looks like crap with the doors cut and I'm mad I did it.
By the way... the C-195 is being built by a builder whom I will name as soon as it is painted and shipped to me. I talked up a builder once before the plane shipped and I was really disappointed when I received the plane. Had to eat my words and pride. Send some photos of your plane... I would love to see them. I'm doing mine in the traditional civilian scheme Iron Bay shows on their site but with orange instead of red and I'll add some color to the wing leading edges also.
How did your glass turn out? Many pin holes?
Regards,

Good thing you don't live here. You would have to wait untill next spring to fire her up, unless your fond of frozen fingers and skis that is.

Winter flying
Newflee,
There will be some rainy weeks here but we fly almost year round. I'm not sure I want to move back to a place that is that cold. I went to school in Montana and about froze my butt off!

RE: Montana
I can't edit these older posts from the old RCU so I'll just add that Van Flowers took me for a lot of money on a plane and parts that I sent him. I will never again claim that he built this plane because he probably had someone else do it. He couldn't put together a 5 cent balsa glider. Van... if you ever cruise RCU and read this, just know that you suck and are no builder or flyer.

RE: Montana
The plane is still flying and my favorite but he after this build took me for thousands of dollars. Given that, I refuse to acknowledge that he even built it. He probably didn't but who ever did... it is a fantastic plane.

RE: Montana
I've thought about it and am of the belief that he will get his one day so I'll just let that happen. I just like to bring it up on here now and then to make sure people are aware of the dangers out there. There are some fantastic people out there in this hobby and then there are the wilted Flowers... the rotten apples so to speak.
