Attn. 33% H9 Cap owners...How do they 3d?
I've had my eye on one of these for a while. I'm big into 3D so I would like to hear from some owners about this planes performance. My favorite moves are rolling circles and slow and stable harriers. Please include your engine set up and weight if possible. Did you have to make any modifications such as lightening it up or anything else?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Attn. 33% H9 Cap owners...How do they 3d?
The Cap and 3d flying were meant for one another. It harriers so nice that in the last 2 years I bet I have only made a dozen normal landings, the rest have been harrier landings. Rolling maneuvers are a breeze too.
Mine is powered by the DA100. I made no modifications to the airplane. I weighed it but that was almost 3 years ago and I do not remember what it was. I must have 700+ flights on the ole girl and the only thing I have replaced was the wheel pants and add back on to the bottom of the rudder when it gets ground off from draging on the ground.

RE: Attn. 33% H9 Cap owners...How do they 3d?
I flew mine for 3 years before loosing it due to engine stall during torque roll. I am sill mourning.
I am building its Extra 330 cousin as a replacement, and have a feeling that I may regret the switch.
The harrier was as stable as it is on my TBM 42% Extra 260: rock solid! Great in parachute, wall, rolling circles, blender, etc... The only bad characteristic I found was the huge coupling when doing slow knife edge.
I had a DA 100, Medjzlik 28x10, Hitec 5945 all around.
I did't weigh it, but I lightened it with TBM (Troy Built Models) accessories: CF wing Tube, CF landing Gear, CF Spinner, LiIon batteries, Aluminium Servo Arms.

RE: Attn. 33% H9 Cap owners...How do they 3d?
One word... AWESOME !!!
I just got back from flying mine all day.
I've got a ZDZ 80 in mine. It weighs 25 lbs (give or take 8 oz.) all up.
The ZDZ 80 isn't quite enough to pull out of a hover. Especially at my altitude (5400 ft).
I've seen another guy at my field flying the same plane with a BME 110. I think that's a much better combo.
The DA 100 would be good too.
Anyway.... I've found that by moving the CG back (I'm currently 1 in. back of the center of wing tube) this thing will do anything you ask off it.
I've got it just about perfect. And very little, if any, coupling necessary in a knife edge.
Gets to be a handful on landings with the CG that far back. Harrier landings are the rule.
Hope this helps.

I am not a 3D flyer but I have a BME 102 in mine and it will harrier all day. That is about the only maneuver that I can do. I haven't tried to land it that way but it is not a limitation of the plane but the pilot.

The CAP will do the tightest end over end stuff of any of the 33% H9 models .
(high thrust line & small stab)
but you have to balance it aft for really wild ones.
It needs to be setup with a shi-pot of throws also.
If you can do it - it will do it .
my current one has ZDZNG100 and on 26x10 Mejzlic - very quick. under 23 lbs.

He set his up with a pull-pull on the rudder to reduce tail weight.

I sure liked my Cap! Extremely stable in harriers both uprite and inverted. Sad as it is shes off to another pilot. Has been a fun plane to own but time to move on to other planes.
