Default Film or Fabric ?

I have a Aeroworks Edge 540 29% with a BME 44. I fly off a dirt field that is topped with crushed granite. The plane is covered with a MonoKote film that is not strong enough to resist the small rocks that are flipped up. Would a Fabric like 21st Century be a better choice of covering for my next plane? Default Film or Fabric ?

I have ran some test concerning the puncture resistance of film and fabric. Fabric does have more overall strength than does film such as Monokote and Ultracote buy you will probably be surprised to hear this. The puncture resistance of fabric is no better than the films. A sharp object will pierce it just as easy as it does the film. The fabric does have more ripping resistance, but sharp objects such as small rocks will still puncture it. It is because of the weave spreading apart I guess. If you would like some exact figures from my tests, you can go to my web site and look under the article entitled Monokote or Ultracote under Article Archives. James Goss
