RE: QQ 85
Hi Kevin - I am still flying mine after a couple of years. It is a sweet flying airplane. I set mine up per the manual and it never has had any bad characteristics. I will try and dig out my manual and scan it for you tonight. It will have the CG and all the recommended throws. I did put all my batteries and the throttle and choke servos up front behind the firewall in order to get the proper balance. It is a bit tail heavy.

I have attached the manual. The setup info is on page 44 and 45. I found the recommended throws to be a little extreme. You may want to tame it down a bit.

Broke the wing on my Yak, but glad to say not a total loss, its going back together quite well.

RE: QQ 85
Happy to say mine is still flying. One of the best planes I have ever flown. Too bad that it had to be discontinued. I do need a new cowl due to a dead-stick into some high grass, if you run across anyone with spare parts.
I, also, put my Boomerang in a couple of months ago but, unlike yours, it went in inverted on a paved road. Needless to say, it was in tiny pieces. I lost just about everything except the landing gear and servos because they were on top. I had to have the motor rebuild, new ecu, new solinoids, new receiver, new air values. I am now building a JetMach Super Sport to put it all in.

Pleased to say the wing is back together and covered in the original pattern, increase in weight is just under 100grm, as most of the work was half way along the wing this should not make a lot of difference to the lateral ballance, will know when I rig it after I get the fus dialed in to the new wing and line up the tail.
Anyone know what the longitudinal dihedral is on the 85" Yak I have set mine at 0.5deg positive?

While I was away from my plane the other day my transmitter apparently fell off of a table and landed on the horizontal stab. It didn't break the stab off but the sheeting has two holes from the transmitter switches. They are small, about the size of an eraser on a pencil. Think this is something I can just clean up and add some covering to or do you guys think I should cut out some balsa and add it back in?
You guys are scaring me with the turbines My L-39/Jetcat P-70 is almost done. First turbine.

Balsa filler. Works great. Just try to pull back as much balsa as possible. Thin CA that once it's in place. Balsa fill the rest. Works like a charm. I dented my EF Yak while carrying it and the filler worked awesome. You couldn't find the dent if you tried. And it was pretty deep.

Thought I would post a couple of pics of the finnished wing.
Thats the problem with a turbine, its heavy and when it goes in there is only a slim chance it will not be irreprably damanged. , but the Elan was a doddle to fly and that is why I stuffed it, familerality breads.......................

These holes are all of the way through. Filler won't work here I don't think. Nothing to back it.

A long time since any posts on here, but glad to say the Yak is still flying as well as ever, the repair is holding up well, it is a shame that this airframe is not made any more as everyone that has a go say's its about the best Yak they have flown.
