Default Looking for 50cc 3D monster? Suggestions?

I am looking for a 3D plane for a 50cc motor that is similar to the 3W XtraFUN-XL I cant even find a price for that however. I dont care how it looks, just want a low wing loading and large controls! I like the look of this type of plane. Any suggestions, I had a WH 300Lx and Extra 260, but neither were good for inverted harriers and they had quirks in other manuvers, I just want a bad 3D monster. What do you guys think?

Lightest wins every time. The Extra Fun is right pricey for what you get, and I personally don't think it's all that great for a 3d machine. Extreme Flight, CA, something along those lines in the appropriate sizes.

If you're into bipes, the Wild Hare Ultimate is an excellent choice.

What is your 50CC motor choice? Extreme Flight RC is coming out with a new 50CC which he says will be bigger and same weight as the Extreme Flight 87 inch Yak 54. Check the Extreme Flight 87"Yak 54 Build and Fly thread. Some of those guys were coming in at just under 15.5 lbs with the DA-50. EF's price is not the cheapest but the quality is 110%. Laser cut, ultra coat covered, carbon fiber everything wing, fuse and tail bags it is the top notch stuff. He even has a new designer who's specialty is building them to look most scale strong and light. I am saving my money on the new 50CC release as long as it is eye appealing. The factory is probably in the middle of a production run as we speak... few more months now.

Aircraft International, 3W 2.3 meter / $1350.00 for the deluxe kit. You buy nothing else besides radio gear. Since you have a motor they sell plane only. Look around, you won't find anything lighter that flys as neutral as this model. Joe

The 50CC is a DA, I have all the radio equiptment already, all 5645 digitals out of the 300LX I crashed. Tom from WH says to call him monday, he can help me get into a setup, but I REALLY like the 3W plane, its not worth 1300.00$ though.

$1350.00 is a complete package, 'deluxe kit' which includes everything. 50cc engine, can W/ header, prop, aluminum spinner, good hwde, even wing bags. I repeat, all you supply is radio gear.

Again, since you have the engine, they will sell the plane only, which includes good hwde. Call for price of plane only. Joe

The biggest, lightest wingloading, large control surface plane for 50cc size 3-D would have to be OMP's 92" Hybrid Edge. It has almost 1870 square inches with full length ailerons. They measure, 45"x5"-6.5"! I put an MVVS 58 in mine and it still weighs in at only 16 lbs., 8 ounces. Some have even made it down to the high 15 lbs. It comes as a kit, but is EASY to build. I built mine in less than 2 weeks. It was the most enjoyable kit I've ever built. I can't wait until spring to get here.
It has it's own look. It is fairly boxy-shaped. The wing shape is like the Edge wing.

I would suggest the EF 87" Yak, but they are not available right now. From your photo attachment, you obviously have no problem with 3D manuevers. I flew with a buddy of mine today . He flew a Wild Hare Edge 540 lightened to about 16 lbs. Beleive me when I tell you , it is a 3D Monster in the right hands.

Yeah, but how much does it cost to lighten it up to 16 lbs?

I've seen a few of them fly. Even flown one that belonged to a buddy. But, most of them are 17 lbs. and some are even 18 lbs.

How much money do you have to spend to drop a pound or 2? Thats a lot of weight to drop. Don't get me wrong, they fly nice. But, they are kinda heavy for a 50cc motor if you want a "3D Monster".

If you spend a couple hundred bucks on CF and other stuff to lighten it up--why couldn't you just buy a lighter airplane to begin with? Probably cost you the same money in the end. But, with the WH--you gotta work at it and scratch your head. With something else, thats built lighter to begin with, you just put it together and go fly.

Here's my 3D monster (BME Edge II). Man does it fly nice. Two things: it's not 15 pounds, it's more like 17 but flies very light. Also I changed the trim and ripped off the little rainbows. Replaced them with the matching midnight blue Ultracoat.

I would have to give another vote to the QQ Yak. It's one of the best 50cc 3D ARF's out there.

Default RE: Looking for 50cc 3D monster? Suggestions?

Well I emailed Aircraft international and the 3W is backordered 2 months and he wouldnt even give me a price quote. I like the TOC 1 plane, but its not worth the price, I have seen them and wasnt impressed. I agree the wildhares are heavy, but with the foam wings, they take a beating, I can hover and harrier a brick so thats not what I am interested in at all. I dont see what I want at all, I have had the extras and caps and edges, I want something differant, something to make people go holy ***** thats cool! I wish I could find that 3W plane..haha, or something like it. 50CC host a ton of scale planes, but NONE will 3D as good as my 33% 260, so why buy one that wont live up to its rep. I just want a 50CC 3D monster. I dont know maybe I am being picky or the idea of buying a new plane hasnt set in. I dont know what Im gonna do now.

You want something different, well the QQ Yak is different in my book. Mine came in at 16 lbs and I added stuff and not CF stuff either. If you watch what you are doing you can get it under 16 lbs. It flies awesome at 16 lbs and I am not very good at 3D yet, but this plane is making it easy to get better.

DerreK.... an Extra 260 is different. But they won't be here till.........March kinda long wait

They'll also be releasing the funscale Yak. It's just like the 3W fun.

They took a Yak and modified it to be awosme in 3D. It doesn't look so scale, but Garrett sais it flies amazing.

I am getting me an AM Funscale Yak when they come in. I've also had a couple od Diablotin XLs, the first with a zdz40rv-l, the second with a DA50-R. They are not perfect, tend to fall off on rudder in a hover, but they are real floaters.
