RE: The BEST Smoke System
For me the best is the one that works when it is needed. Today I just finished testing a re-installation of an old Benett system on my 35% Extra with a Brison 6.4 twin. The TME went south for the second time even with major shock mounting. The old system requires a crankcase tap plus a servo to run the control valve for the diaphragm pump. The system seems to work fine even after sitting for about 8 years.
Doing another one I would go with the electric pumps again but would try another brand for a change.

Which one of them two were having problems.
[quoteI use the SkyWriter by Sullivan and it works great. I have on in my 31% Staudacher for about 4 years now and one in my new 27% CA 300L. A 6v battery should be used on these systems for best results though. I'm not sure what the Slimline system uses.

RE: The BEST Smoke System
I have two planes w/ smoke set up and one Slimline Showtime Pro. Its self contained, has its own battery and treat it as a servo. Smoke intesity can be set while flying. Swapping the pump between the two airplanes are a snap. About 30 flights on it and still going strong. Both planes use Slimline Smoker muffs and use Super Dry Aviation Smoke.................tons of Smoke.

RE: The BEST Smoke System
After trying a bunch of pumps, I found the Don Harris pumps to be the best. When I heard they were going away, I bought 3 spares and put them on the shelf for future projects. After 5 years of using them, I've never had a complaint with them.

RE: The BEST Smoke System
The only flow rate adjustment on the TME pumps is with a manual screw type restrictor that clamps over the line. Takes a couple of flights to get it dialed in just right, but the pumps work very well.

The local LHS just reopened and he has 2- TME Simple Smoke pumps on the wall. Do these work well and can you adjust the flow rate?
