Default EXTREME FLIGHT RC 88 inch YAK-54/Brillelli 366GT Build thread

I am about to begin assembly of our new 88 inch Yak-54 which will be powered by the Brillelli 366GT 60cc engine and I will document my progress here. For the sake of compiling useful, factual information for future assemblers of this aircraft, lets try to keep this thread free of rumor, speculation, and bickering. Plenty of room for that on the other 88 inch Yak thread!
I will be writing the instruction manual during this process, so if you find any steps that are not clear please let me know so I can be sure they are explained adequately in the manual.
Lets start off with component weights:
Fuselage (minus canopy/hatch) 55.04 oz.
Canopy/hatch 13.92 oz.
Rudder 4.96 oz.
Left wing with aileron 20.8 oz.
Right wing with aileron 21.12 oz
Right stab elevator 4.8 oz.
Left stab/elevator 4.8 oz.
Landing gear 12.48 oz.
Carbon wing tube 2.56 oz.
Carbon stab tube .64 oz.
Landing gear fairings 1.76 oz./pair
Spats 1.12 oz./pair
Cowl 12 oz.
Fake louver insert 2 oz.
Misc. hardware 8 oz.

Total ARF component weight 166 oz. or 10.38 lbs

I also would like to see the red version, but I would like to see how the Brillelli runs without the tuned pipe. I think we can all concur that it will be stronger with the pipe, so for the people who will not be using the pipe (including me) it would be nice to see how this engine runs with standard muffler.

Just got my Ecomposites 50-55cc pipe today. Nice workmanship.

Scale shows 4 1/4 ounces for each the DA 25 MM drop header and also for the Pipe, throw in 3/4 oz for coupler and a mount and it will be close to a 10 oz total pipe setup in my book. I may have to trim the header back an inch or so for my setup.....waiting on an engine and weekend at this point.

I think Josey and I are elated at the weights listed!

10.38 lbs plus wheels (if he didn't already include that) makes about 10.5 lbs...

My DA50 builds come out at adding 6.5 lbs with stock muffler, lions, etc...

That's 17 lbs my boys... with all the accoutrements...

Drop 5 oz for the spats, fairings and faux louver insert (don't know WHY I was calling it a faux radial geesh)

And maybe a lipo instead of lions... and one COULD find 16.5 on this plane without really doing anything....

Add back 6 oz for the Brillelli and I'm peering down the barrel of a loaded 17 lb rocket!

Not sure what Chris' buildout was on the Black/Yellow one or whether the battery was low on his scale... but I'm thinking my guestimate above is gonna pan out with those airframe weights...

it it you were "speechless' for once...

BTW you can sub to a thread without posting a "period" by clicking the subscribe to thread at the upper right of a thread page (just under the yellow menus)

Prop choices... I hope the 60's on pipe rip the snot out of the 23A- maybe even reach out further.

BTW the guys at DA said that the 22C seems to put out the same as the 23A as far as thrust goes.

Sounds like a great way to build our anticipation of the coming planes. In fact, I've built a hobby room in my office just for this plane. Okay, my wife kicked my hobby out of the house, but this will be the first plane finished in the new room...

Allright guys... we've hijacked the thread enough... Let's let Chris do his thing... and ask specific questins about THIS setup... so the thread doesn't become umpteen pages long with pages of "stuff" between his posts...

For those not aware... there's a good "clubhouse type" thread on the 88" Yak here:

I am assuming the servos, swtiches, extensions etc. are all included in this weight...

I would like to see the Brillelli plane without the tuned pipe coz that's the route I am going.

The new CH ignition included with this motor can run on a 1-cell LiPo. So less weight of an additional cell and regulator

Yep... basically I use about the same equipment on all my 50cc builds... I weigh the airframe and within a couple oz end up 6.5 lbs heavier RTF...

Chris only has so much time guys and has committed to the CF pipe setup...

If all goes well, we'll be seeing the 20 planes get in the hands of builders by mid February... Just a couple more weeks... and we'll haev plenty of variety of build optins being shared...

2.5" (stock) and the Brillelli standoffs needed are 1.75"(stock) to be the same distance from the firewall...

This may be helpful to all those on this thread who aren't discussing the Brillelli 60, which is what this thread is about.....
http://www.rcaerobats.net/GAS_ENGINE...0%20CC%20class

The B366GT, with a header/pipe system will be very close to the Original 366 GT all up weight I have on my data. Should rock with a good 23 x 8, probably even do pretty darn well with a 24 x 8.... my non-piped 366GT's do quite well with 17 lb birds, and turn 23 x 8's just fine.

Hi Chris, I want to thank you for doing this build thread and going the extra mile for your customers. Even though I am a new "EF" customer, I appreciate your efforts in providing excellent customer service. Putting out videos and doing the thread for all us affected with the winter time, cabin fever blues is a great way to appease the anxious "20" for the next few weeks! Nico [8D]
