According to DA, their ignition will handle an unregulated A123 2s pack. That's what I'm using. Stays charged forever, quick recharge in 15 minutes when needed, and no regulator to fail.

So...is too early to start talking about what stuff we are going to be stuffing into this monster ?[8D]
So...is too early to start talking about what stuff we are going to be stuffing into this monster ?[8D]
If we didn't....ad nauseum, this wouldn't feel/look/sound like an EF thread. eh?
We have to beat to death every aspect of it, fight about it, flame about it, drool about it, .......or it just wouldn't be right.
so,...what wing bolts are YOU going to use??... The ones that came with the 88" were suspect in my eyes...of the three 88's at our field...all needed replacement.
Are you going to pin your anti-rotation pins?
Beef the motor-box? Use Titanium axles? Pipes of Muffs? Kevlar or wire for the Pull-Pull? Matchboxes or Powerbox?
Ad nauseum.......... gotta love EF threads. They set the obsessive complusive standard, rightly so, IMHO.
Gotta get more caffeine and make a list of questions...

Flyin Hawaiian! Do you know if the tray will except tandem servos for the rudder? I was thinking of doing the same
ORIGINAL: Flyin Hawaiian
I will tandem the HS 5955's to gether with a 4" SWB arm on the rear Servo and 3" arm on the front servo. I like plenty of power on my rudders.

It starts out for the first few seconds at 7.2V but drops almost immediately to like 6.6V until the pack puts out the last 100 mah or so and drops to 6.0v before. Do not fly is typically around 6.3v for most people. However, with the ability to be charged at 4-10 Amps and no memory - I just top them off every few flights with no worries before I can even get the fuel tank full.

I looked at the inside of the 104" at the Huckfest and remember seeing two tandem slots for Rudder Servos.

That's great, one last question

Thanks.

I know Ill be putting a B120 on the nose and the new AR9100 rx with dual A123 packs and a 1100 A123 on ignition. 5955's all around but not sure about the rudder servo yet. No spinner. I even built a special bench for the beast!

LOL , Josey.
Rich, nope , I crashed the 1/3 Super Cub into the trees after a 30 minute flight. I lost depth perception , and dipped her behind the trees on approach.
It is being rebuilt.
The 3W106 Cactus S.S. I had in her will most likely go into this Yak. It pulled stumps like no other I have had. The definition of Swiss Watch precision in starting and reliability.
My 88 has collected dust since Early October, after spending the entire summer in my Van with only one tear down , to change a wasted DA-50 out with another DA-50.
I have not posted on the DL50 thread , Josey, as I have nothing good to say. My original DL50 bottom end wiped out, and I am not spending another 98 bucks on it. I beat on it , trashed it, wasted it, and now it is a paper weight. THe others I have will most likely suffer the same fate...so they will get beat on and disrespected as well.
I am hiding in the basement with giant helicopters....I got bit by the scale heli bug...
The 110" Yak will be the only plane I buy for next year, as I have , with a lot of you guys, waited many years for the "Big One" from EF. Hell, I wanted and spoke for a 107" in 2003.............
All good things take time........................

Joe, You're a nut![sm=tongue_smile.gif] I like your style.
Boss, The wings on Chris' 104" yak had two 1/4"-20 nylon bolts and two alignment pins in each wing. No I do not think you will have to put quik-release pins on the Anti-rot pins.

Josey, LOL> I sure would be. But, I did not play nice with it, I wailed harder than I ever have on that motor, and the bottom end suffered. A DA might have faired better, but i am sure it would have shown wear. WOT minutes on end flipping , I think 25 to 30 AMsoil fed gallons of fuel, with 1/5 gallon of break-in on ashless,..fun for sure. But ,I would not trash a 600 dollar DA the same way, the DL made it cheap enough to have fun abusing it.
Onto this one.........man, my 1/3 Super Cub is almost back in one piece and my 3W106 is begging to go back in 'er. So, what am I going to power this bird with..........
Come on DL170........LOL. No, I think , just like the 88", it deserves the American Ferrari , DA and homegrown CF pipes.
I am eating up the A123 reports and doing reading and I think I will jump on 'em as well....
But, I am staying old school radio R649 SPCM JR on Ham.
The great thing about this last class of EF birds is, they fly well with a wide scope of components....you're not locked into any one setup to get awesome performance.
I would get a kick out of someone flying this with a Quadra or Zenoah ...

Considering I ran my $99 leaf blower yesterday for 4.5 hrs at WOT only stopping to fill back up and its still running like a champ, you would think the mighty DL could handle a little bit of abuse with air actually going over the cooling fins

You would think so.......LOL. I have moved on. No such thing as a bargain RC motor, IMO. You pay on the front end or the back end.

looks cool but i think the toc sd models 35% YAK 54 IS A TAD BIGGER. THE WING IS 107 INCH. I AM BUILDING THE TOC RIGHT NOW. I DO LIKE THE COVERING SCHEME ON THIS PLANE THOUGH. I LOOKED AT THE WE SIGHT AND THEY ONLY SHOW A 88 INCH YAK. IS THIS YAK A QUICK BUILD. AND WHAT IS THE PRICE ON THIS ONE.
