If this is like any other 100cc plane, then yes, there is only one servo per each elevator half. It obviously needs to be top-of-the-line, though, with over 200 ounces of torque. And you can easily run just one rudder servo, but I'd only recommend the 8711 for this big of a plane. I have a 5955 on my 35% 260 and it works fine, but it also only weighs 27 pounds wet and I don't compete with it or do knife edge loops all day long.

I thought the 8711 and 5955's were the same size / ratings? I'll probably sale my 50cc end of the year and pick this one up for my winter project so I'll use everything but a few items on this bird.

What exactly are you implying? My guess is that the UltraRC Yak is derived from a previous 107" WS design that may or may not have originated from EF. The new 104" WS EF Yak is likely a new EF design...

I just want to know if my 3W 106 will balance this one out. If the DA100 install needs everything up front to balance it ..(Batts, regs) , and more...then the 106 would be ok by itself.
I know the 107" from Ultra is Chris' old 107 Prototype. I only want it from Chris'. And the 104 will be the shizzle.

i feel ya, you know i am on that list for the DA but the more and more i wait the more its not helping their case
the 115 gives me so much room to grow
That 106 from 3W is a good look on this plane on can or pipes, just makes my mouth watering thinking about it. I have had many brands of motor but never a DA......but i am trying [8D]

THat info on TBM is eye-opening ,for sure. But, as with any independent study, controls and such can be picked apart by experts. So, while using it as good honest info, don;t thinkit is the tell-all, end-all of those servos. That's all.
But, if one fact is clear....servo fade is for real.
TBM suggests by it's writing syntax ,that the 8611 gears are sloppy , but not the 8711...or am I reading this wrong??
I am not critical of the tests or writing, but once again, it is not the definitive.
No doubt the 104 will need authority and current capacity for the servos.
Can't wait, I look at my 88" and dream of it's Supersized Sister........

Ya it's pretty hard to get a controlled test. Def some interesting info. The extension length drop is also interesting although there is no way around that really.
Personally I am happy with the 5955s.. I can KE-Loop my 33%er on one in the tail nps... I will be adding a second though... but really just for useable tail weight.

Yeah, it is also interesting how much torque they lose with heat. One thing's for certain, the 5955 has not produced 333 ounces of torque in any independant testing that I have seen. But, considering that I have been using a single 5955 successfully on my 35% 260, the 8711 can only be an improvement. I wonder if drilling holes in the aluminum case would help...

Sooo... if they broke at 300 then the extra 103 oz isn't going to do us much good.
The servo fade is real.. I will sometimes do several consecutive knife edge passes with my planes, most recently my 35% extra 260 with a single 8711 and I had the servo fade and it was noticeable, I added a second 8711 and the fade is gone now.
I run JR servos and deal with the slop, which isn't bad IMO, it took me 12 gallons of gas (not glow) on my 27% extra 260 before I had to send in ONE 8411, the others are still going strong with what appears to be the factory amount of slop. A lot of it depends on how you have them setup, Horizon replaced the gears under warranty, I sent a note along with the servo explaining that it was in their plane, using their supplied hardware, setup by the book, and they replaced them. Makes me wonder why that was the only servo, and the other 3 are fine, has to be some weird vibration on the left wing is all I can think of.
bodywerks... I've got some machinist friends that fly at my field, I bet the could cut some nice holes in the cases of the 8711, I wonder what it would do to the strength of the case. I talked to them yesterday about making some titanium gears for JR servos and they said they would be way to much work using their particular equipment. That would be awesome if we could get Ti replacement gears in JR servos, of course they would have to be reasonably priced, but I think JR likes selling us replacement gears.
