Default 35% 260, which one?

I'm planning on buying a 35% extra 260. Its 4000 feet above sea level here and I'll be using a DA 100. Hows the 260 rate for 3D or which one 3D's best? I think I have it narowed down to: Hanger 9, Aeroworks, or TOC/SD. Which one would fly best at this altitude

Can't speek for high altitude,I fly at sea level, the SD is a very true aerobat that is very capable in both IMAC and 3D.I am running a DA 100 with KS 86 rear exhaust,It's amazing to fly a giant scale and not be able to here it fly over a .40 sized trainer flying.

I hava a H9 35% Extra 260 with the DA-100 on MTW canisters. I have plenty of power to spare. The plane weighs 28#. I could save another 12 oz to 16 oz by installing CF landing gear and a CF wing tube. The plane should be good to go at 4000 ft.

I fly at 5300 ft, but density altitude consistantly runs about 7500 ft. You need a plane that is around 26-28 pounds. I have the Wild hare sukhoi, and as far as 3D goes (Or anything else for that matter) it is the best plane I've ever flown. It only weighs 25.5 # and that is with a 3w 106. The 260 is more for precision and IMAC. If you are not set on a 260, I would rethink your position and look at the wild hare 35% sukhoi, the SD Yak or the QuiQue Yak.

The wingtube saves 3 ounces. If they made CF gear for it it'd save about 4 ounces (That's all I saved with my Aeroworks 35%). So maybe a half-pound, max. You could drop a pound by going to stock mufflers, though.
I have the H9 35% on the workbench and had the Aeroworks for over a year. I can tell you that the Aeroworks finish quality wins, hands-down. The plywood seems to be a little better on the H9 (more dense). Finished weight should be lighter with the Aeroworks, by a few ounces. If you build either of them ALAP (As Light As Possible), you could get them under 27 pounds. At 4,000 feet, that will be fine.

hello i am interested in getting this plane. this will be my first giant gas plane . i have been flying a 27% extra 300 from greatplanes. it has a os 160. i fly it very well. i want opinions on if this plane will be more difficult to fly. this will be a big project for me and i dont want to make the wrong dicision. how are the landing characteristics with this plane. i would want to make this plane very docile. i like flying on lower rates. i really am not into 3d but just love these style airplanes. i like to just cruise around do a couple rolls and knife edges but as for extene 3d i am not interested. how do you rate theis plane as far as easy to handle. please any info would be well apreciated.. thanks

Bigger, easier to see, flies slower(seems to anyway), not effected by the wind as much. Landings are a cinch because of those qualities. Like bodywerks said, you can handle it! Just make sure that you can manuever a big plane in and out of where you store it and your vehicle without too much trouble.
