Default My first giant

It just barely qualifies as a giant, but it's still big to me. It's a D&L Designs kit that built and covered. It's got an 80" wing span, and I put a CRRCPro G45 in it. I've only got 2 short flights on it so far.

Interesting.Never heard of it.Counter on the ailerons?
Thanks for posting.I bet the 45 will probably be a good match for it too. Is it a 260 or 300S or XL?
I cant tell for some reason, maybe an Edge 540?

Very nice selection of color Scheme! The Red Bull is about the best looking scheme out right now!

Yeah, should have said, it's an Edge 540. The counter balance on the aileron actually has about a half ounce of lead shot in it to really counter balance them. I believe the plane is around 15.5 lbs. I weighed it, but I don't remember what it came out at.

The Red Bull scheme I came up with is kind of a compilation of various ones from airliners.net. I asked Red Bull if they could supply me with the logo, but of course they said no. So I found it on the internet. My wife has a Craft Robo computer-controlled paper cutter. I used it to cut out the designs (I made paper templates so as not to dull the wifes' cutter on Monokote). The nice thing was being able to scale down the smaller cutouts instead of having to redraw anything. There needs to another set of bulls on the vertical stab, but they got pretty tiny and difficult to cut out. Maybe I'll get motivated this winter to give it another shot.

Man, I was off on the weight! I took the scale out to the field this weekend, and it measuered 14 pounds. That's on my crummy fish scale that's probably only accurate to 1/4 pound.

Looks great, I recently purchased Doug Lee's (D&L Designs) Edge short kit. Haven't started it yet, but am really impressed with the laser cutting and the plans are excellent.

How long did the build take?
