Default Rascal 110 & Saito 180

For those of you with a Rascal 110 & Saito 180.....

What orientation did you put the engine, inverted, sideways, etc? I have heard problems of muffler/firewall interference, and some talk of having to remove a large chunk of the firewall. Is this with all engine orientations? Is there any alternatives to removing a portion of the firewall (i.e. some sort of muffler extension, different muffler, etc)?

I have heard that the Saito 180 is a very vibration-prone engine, requiring some sort of 'soft-mount'. What recommendations do you have on these mounts (if there is more than one maker)?

Also, what size prop do you run?

Hi Steve, my dad had one of these with the 180 and he mounted it inverted. Did have to remove some material but it didn't hurt anything. As far as vibration, when it is broken in and you balance the prop and spinner, it is a pretty smooth engine. We used the top end of the prop selection for length and the lower pitch to give good climb and a slow landing speed with a good idle.... hope this helps I noticed nobody responded yet so I thought I'd offer what I could....
