Hi Tony, good to here from you.
The main turtle deck was glued to the frame before sheeting. I then sheeted it in two pieces to avoid bending the balsa too much at once. The back section that fits around the vert. stab was cut out and sanded to fit, then sheeted, then clamped and glued to the frame. That back piece is difficult to get to fit the fin.[:@]

I glue the sheeting on the core first. I pre-bent the sheeting by wetting with ammonia then put the sheeting and core back in the shuck and leave it dry.

I built that bird back then, and I am still flying it. It is really a sweet airplane. Good luck, Be careful not to get the tail heavy. My DA 100 needed about a half inch of standoff for CG. Also needed more firewall support. I had to pin mine with bolts and f.glass cloth after a few flights.
I still have all the old downloads for the article, if they are not still on the AMA site if you need them. They were the same ones in all six issues of the magazine.

It,s a big job, but worth the time when finished. I am not disappointed!

Good luck

Cool! Did you put the rudder servos in the tail or on a pull pull? Any pictures of the bird?

Thanks a lot

Dave
