Man to have them break off like that the quality of the bolt would be questionable, probably very soft. I would think an ez-out ( broken bolt extractor ) and a decent drill would take care of it. As Fingers73 said don't be surprised if they are only finger tight at this point now that there is no load on them.

I just picked up a ZDZ super 80 . Once I am all healed up I will be close to maiden time.

Fingers73 you stated your only running single Aileron servos, I assume your running them at one of the stock locations, probably the inboard location? I was looking at the aileron and it seems plenty strong I am just not sure about location.

Happy flying guys

I actually went with the outboard location for the aileron servo. It measured up to be the closest to the center of the control serfice. One thing I will gripe about just a little is the hard point in them. I always set up my control geometry so the pushrod is perpendicular to the hinge line at its full deflection, not necessarily where they say to. That being said I found that the hard points were not uniform in location, off by about a 1/4 inch from wing to wing. I had to comprimise on the setup to hit the hard points of both. No big deal just not what I would call perfect geometry.

I went out today and took some toy to play with.

Did a few triming flights with the Lanier Yak.
I am getting it sorted out.
DL-100 is running great.
I need to put some O-Rings on the axle to put some drag on the wheels ( brakes ).
The DL-100 is idleing at 1400 rpm but the plane still want to roll / taxi.
Here are two videos of my triming out flights.

The 30% Yak looks like a RichModel. Is that correct? If so, how do you like it? I'm planning on importing the 30% Yak and Extra 330. Also the 100cc Yak and Extra260. The 30% planes will probably go for 375-400.00, the 100cc's for roughly 600-650.00, Yak will be slightly higher than the Extra. These are much better quality than the Ebay Yaks. I'll bring them in if I get enough interest.
Thanks for the vids. Big kudos to the camera person. She did an excellent job.

Yes the 30% Yak ( middle in the picture ) is a Richmodel.
I got mine for $440.00 @ the door.
It is the best flying I own or have ever owned.
The only change is to beef up gear mount and ditch the fiberglass landing gear and use aluminum ones.
My Richmodel needed NO mixing at all, flys straight where you point it, floats like a foamy on landing.
Full smoker, dual RX batteries, Smartfly, etc, and my all up weight is 16 lbs. 6 oz.
If you get the Yaks, count me in for the 35% at that price.
The only one I know that has the 35% is East RC and he wants $1099.00
That's nuts, that's more then the Aeroworks 35% Yak.
I will be looking for a 35%er at sometime for this DL-100.

Yep, that's my wife.
She is not into RC at all.
She films when I ask, and she helps me cut the grass at the field everytime.
It is a 80 arce private field ( only myself ) and we cut a 300' X 800' landing area.
It takes us 2 hours each to do with riding mowers every ten days.
The only thing she does ask is: Why do you need so many planes?

Here is a video of the Richmodel Yak. ( sucks there was 15 - 18 mph winds )
It has a DL-50 in it.
I have it still on the rich side, I just installed a new piston ring.
Next flight, she'll be leaned out.
Sorry, don't want to jack this thread, I know it's about the Lanier Yak.

Hey 2robinhood, your plane lands much nicer now. Where are your batteries currently located?

Ignition battery is closest to the tail, ( green battery ) next is the smoker battery ( white battery ) and the two RX batteries ( black batteries ).
I want to go with some more tail weight. I may just ad some to the tailwheel bracket.

Well, I maidened my Yak Saturday and I think I'm gonna love it! I've been following this thread since April and have learned a lot from you guys. I balanced the Yak in the middle of the wing tube and it was nearly perfect for me. I'm running a DA 85 and it pulls the Yak around with impressive authority! I fly IMAC stuff so I don't like to get too wild with the set-up. I ended up with 15 deg. on both the ailerons and elevators and 25 deg. on the rudder for low rates. High rates were set at 20 deg. on the elevators and ailerons. This plane really feels good to fly! The only problem was with the tail wheel and the tail landing gear. The wheel broke and the gear bent. Have to get something stronger. I flew the Yak all day Sat. and then again on Sunday. The Arizona heat was kicking my rear but I was having too much fun to quit. With the balance at the wingtube, the Yak floats in for easy, slow landings. I'll send pictures later.

Hey azsprint27 ,
What is your radio set up?
What kind of all up weight?

I put a different tailwheel gear on mine, it supports the weight good, but it isn't long enough to make the spring turn the tailwheel.
It makes the springs so verticle that it doesn't turn the wheel.
I also bought a Ohio superstar tailwheel assy for a 20-50 lb plane but it seems that I am going to have the same steering issue.
I need a tail wheel assy that has a long length.

2Robinhood, My all up weight (no fuel) is 24 lb 6 oz. Radio setup: Spektrum DX7 with Hitec HS5645mg servos on elevator halves and on the ailerons. For the Rudder I went to a Dubro Pull-Pull system with a single HS5955TG servo. I went with Troybuilt 2600 mah Lithium-Ion batteries with the new Miracle switch that comes with the Two input-two output redundant voltage regulator. I also went with Smart-Fly equalizers on the ailerons. I'm quite happy with this setup so farjust a little more tweeking and it will be very good. I haven't put in a lot of mixing yetjust rudder to elevator and a little low throttle to elevator. i'll figure out what else I need next time out. I replaced the main wheels with Dubro 4 inch and I just got a new rear wheel setup-Ohio superstar 16-35 lbs, I'll let you know how that works out.

I have been pulling good smooth landings and they have been fine.
Anything rough and the stock ones are bent.
I think in the cold weather I will send them off to TNT gear and have him make an exact set, but from quality aluminum.

I found a great replacement tailwheel for my Lanier Yak, and Lanier Edge.

It's cheap, and well made. Easy to install.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTXL4&P=Z

It's the tailwheel for the Great Planes 38% Extra

Someone used Giant Aeromaster wheel pants (Geat Planes) on this Yak. They are a perfect match. They also allow you to use the wider Kavan wheels if you are so inclined. Last I saw they were out of stock at Tower.

The Hanger9 Extra 330 33% wheel pants will work find. The red is close, but not perfect.

I use 4" Hanger 9 wheels. I had dremel a little on the wheel pant opening... no big deal.

Flew the Yak again today.
The more flights the better it gets.
Getting all the fine detail mixing about finished.
This is an awsome plane.
I should have bought two of them before they were gone.
Awsome, Awsome, Awsome.

Hey matfree , how is your Yak and the DL-100?
My Yak and DL-100 are ( did I mention ) Awsome.
