What do you mean 50% more? The planes were already at this 50% more price from the beginning. This $399 price is the blow out sale that GP is doing. And yes, ... I'm quite sure many would have bought this plane in more numbers than before if it were wearing the Great Planes banner on the box. GP is large, Lanier was small .. and lots of people buy along brand loyalty lines. Since GP sells its Cap 580 for $689 ... and Lanier was selling these Yaks for $799 ... I think GP would have made money hand over fist by selling this plane for $599 - $649 wearing the "Great Planes 1/3 Scale Yak 54!" Getting more of these out on the flight liines through GP's ad and marketing strength would likely have been an easy task.

first dude calm down. i ment 50% more than 799 that is the going price for most planes of this size .i know been waiting for ever to afford one.second the 1/3 cap witch i bought a couple of years ago and still have was 1000 bucks when i bought it in canada funds.that cap is now out dated and if you really wanted one they are blowing them out $689 and $100 cash back.my point all along has been that this new light weight type of plane by lanier would sell for more if it said AEROWORKS on it. and i think GP wants a piece of that.if they sold 1/3 cap 4 years ago for 1000 cant think thier happy selling what they must have on the drawing board for less than that

because i have one and it is a great plane but is very over weight for todays standard actually was heavy by the standard when it was built.have a carden 35% extra built 5 years before the cap and was 5 lb lighter with the same gear .i love my cap and use it for windy days verry well behaved plane but not wanting to spend the money to try to make a silk purse from a pigs ear i decided to leave it alone and move on.

DA-85 is 4.3 then you are adding a pitts muffler(heavy) and ignition.
DA-100 is 5.8 then you are adding two mufflers(both combined weigh slightly more than the pitts) and heavier ignition.

Good idea to get the 100 if you plan to buy a 35% in the future.

Either one is going to be awesome. I am considering putting a 100 in mine because I already have one lying around but I am dying to buy that 85 also.

I bought this Yak because they sold out of the Edge before I could read my email. Now I have found the Edge in stock elsewhere. I was going to cancel the order and buy the Edge but I decided to stick with the Yak. I already have a 85" and a 107" Yak but that Edge just doesn't appeal to me as much.

Is the stock landing gear very high? I may need to visit TNT while at Toledo in a couple of weeks for different gear.

Good to know. That is like going to a junkyard and finding a fender for your car that is already the right color.
Well worth the cost to not have to paint them.

That is alot of power! You could sell more of those than you could make. There was a guy at our field a few months ago who had a similar prototype. He had two Ryobi 32cc 4 strokes with a mockup crankcase machined from ABS. He was about to make the aluminum one. He made a cam follower gear to reverse one of them. Haven't seen him since. Too cool.

I have a DA-50 on my 85". Vess 23A. Slimline pitts. 16 lbs. 9 oz.

Engine died twice doing outside loops. Gonna try baffling cowl sides. Other than that it is great.

The 85 is said to be much better. Better reed and carb set.

That glow carb looks odd. You need a big fat Walbro on there.

Thanks RAM that will be a great help & save me alot of headachs and time, Let me know what you find. The way that cowl completly swallows the 100 makes me wonder if there will be a cooling problem. Got my radio and power system in this week, can't believe yhe size of the 2.4Ghz RX this thing is TINY and very light, fits the EQ6 like a glove.
