I do have a sugestion, this engines are powerfull, do you going to fiberglass the corners or put a aluminum channel, this engine's are bad to the bone, and can pull away your firewall.

how do get to the needle valves? I used 1 1/4 wood dowels. I might make a mount like yours on my next one but I don't have a milling mach. I wonder if a router will work.

Took less than 5 minutes to make with the mill, a router should work fine just take a little longer. With a mill you can get all the entire surfaces true and parallel.
I have a notch midway for the needles. see picture.

Maxum, I glass the three box sides and added triangle stock on the bottom in the back, side already done. Glass can be seen in one of the pictures, I lightly roughed up the wood so the epoxy would stick better hopefully.
I have seen a 3w150 rip the nose off, made a mess of everything up front. The 90 degree triangle aluminum stock would probably be better.

Picture of it almost finished, missing wheel pants but they are going to stay off for a few flights. They are done just need to mount them.

the firewall is pinned on the sides. I'll probably pin the top and bottom also. that should be plenty.

No Pin's will not stop the fire wall from snap off is a false sense of security, you need to fiberglass or reinforce the firewall,or you will regret it, I am a inspector of aircraft maintenance and Iam tell you if you are lucky you will loose the airplane if not you may loose your hands, don't take a chanse. The only thing we can do in this forum is give advise you do what you think is best. Good Luck.

this is my Lanier with a 100 CC ZDZ

Anybody need a 3W80XI to power this frame? I just put my NIB in the marketplace with side muffler, engine mount, ignition and spinner for a pretty fair deal. I put an identical engine on my brothers 95 inch yak and it had great power to 3D it well.
Lost my job and need money to insure a roof over the house.

Thanks,

R

WARNING WARNING,,,as talked about the firewall if you do not add something to the firewall it will come apart

mine did and i was very lucky i have a da85 on mine and it was about the 8th flight and i started it up and was about to taxi out and i noticed the spinner move oh so slightly and i shut it down thought the spinner was lose, but it was not,the left side of the firewall was seperated and the factory pins was broke, wow after i tore it apart i noticed the pins for the firewall was not even hardwood

i have just fixed the problem i used carbon pins and i also added aluminum corner stock around the firewall and bolted in and re epoxy the whole front end

i am going out today to fly it again and it should be rock solid,i just want all to know that you better fix this area i got really lucky and i do not want anybody to get hurt or loose the plane for this reason,,i will take pictures of the repair if anyone wants to see it steve

The fire wall and all gas planes need to be beefup, I fiber glass mine in my edge, but if it come lossed I will fiberglass and add the aluminum corner is a must, he is right do not risk you plane or yourself. this is a video of the second flight of my Lanier edge 94", I thing that the extra may flight even better, with this plane is not coupling at all in knife edge.
Enjoy.

LOL!!!

Why are you flying at 1/2 and above with the 100cc twin on this ARF????

I wonder why the firewall came apart..[X(]

This is a 21lb airframe, and you are putting a 35% engine on it... and flying it like a Four Star 60.

I have 20 flights on this edge... zdz80 turning a vess 27a 6300... Mostly 3D.. but can handle Advance IMAC...

I pinned the the firewall with carbon fiber rods and plan on using alum angle for the corners.

Airwizard here is the picture you ask for

here is also a picture of mine ready dor another flight, and a list of things i had problems with

get rid of the supplied fuel tank the stopper will come out and its junk the lip is not big enough on the tank

the cowl mounts needs reinforced and i used 3 small pieces if hardwood and they are not glued in well

also the canopy mounts need more glue as well as they will come out

i have about 8 flights on mine and it is a sweet flying plane so far just need to work all the bugs out

Thanks theo63 that's the kind of info I was looking for. I should be starting mine in the next few weeks. I still need to pickup some batteries, servo arms, switches and extensions. Then i am set to go.

What kind of servos did you use? I picked up some of the HD servos when Troy built had them on sale. I don't fly 3d just IMAC so i don't need overkill on the servos.

I wanted to change the tanks out to the round kind with the screw on lid. I have seen them in planes but i can't recall where to get them.

I noticed when I inspected it that the cowl mounts looked suspect as well as the overall fit of the canopy hatch. Looks like it will need some reinforcement.

Did anyone do anything with the cockpit area? If so can I see some pics please.

Thanks!

i just reglued the deck mounts they hardly had any glue in them but for the cowl i just epoxied in some hardwood in 3 places,if you look at the picture you can see them not much but you will get the idea, they are really solid now and its had about 5 flights on it since i did that and they are good to go

I got 2 flights on mine tonight.....took 2 clicks of up and it was tracking straight and level. I'm very happy with the plane it is very stable and flew where I pointed it and would be great for IMAC. Didn't get a chance to try any 3D yet maybe next time.

I fly off grass and the tires came off the rims so I'll change them out. Everything else worked great.

Nice Plane!!!!!!!
