GP Super Stearman Covering
#1

Great Planes says that the red covering on the Super Stearman is "True Red" but it seems to be closer to "Missle Red." Here's a quote from GP COMMENTS: Following are the colors used on this model and order numbers for
6 foot rolls:
White: TOPQ0204 True Red: TOPQ0227
Black: TOPQ0208
I was at a hobby shop yesterday and didn't have the plane with me but I could tell the True red was too dark. I went ahead and bought a True Red trim sheet just to check it out. It's too dark like I thought. I'm thinking the Missle Red is the correct color. Anyone have this problem?

you are right, the color specified in the manual is an error.
i remember finding out about this the same way you just did, but only because i was modifying a GP Big Stik as a tail dragger.
the stik calls for True Red and when i bought the roll i needed i compared to my Stearman....................the color is Missle Red, and i also remember reading this later in the GP Super Stearman thread that was hot a while back in the ARF's board.
i can't believe Hobbico hasn't corrected this.
with that said, you may be able to drop an Email to Barb Beck of Hobbico, and she may just send you a roll..........she took great care of me while i was putting my Stearman's and all the other GP kits together.

Thanks, guys. I didn't even see them half baked updates at the bottom of the page. You would think they would erase the True Red and replace it with Missle Red. Thanks again. Here's some pics of how I'm going to give it a fresh make over. The fuse, cowl, and wheel pants will stay the same. I'll add the red sunbursts to the wings on top and checkers on the bottom wing, maybe the bottom of the top also. The bottom of the stab will get'm too with the sunbursts on top. Haven't decided on the rudder. Landing gear will also get the checkers.

Hi,
2 questions...
Does anyone have any scrap covering red and white for the Super Stearman. I clipped the bottom wing on a landing and had to repair it but all I need how is about 6 inchs of each color. If anyone can help please let me know?
RCU has changed their format for the fourm and there is a long Super Stearman fourm that goes back a few years that I can't find. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Shubova
