Default Nitro Planes 35% Su 26, $399

Nitro Planes 35% Su 26, $399

Has anyone tried one of these? Looks like a great deal for $399 ($460 shipped).

Sounds to good to be true but so is the DL 50, DL 100, Toc 53, Magic Hand, Toc (SD) models, World Models, etc....

Sounds like the birth of a build thread.

My buddy got a nitro planes ARF and said he had to "fix" a lot of the kit...lots of time added to the build. And he said never again. After that he built an Aeroworks ARF and said the quality was like night and day. But if you have more time than money then it might be a good arf for you. As I hinted, I'd be interested in seeing the build thread.

BTW, I don't like where they put their servo pockets in relation to the control horns in their pic's (on the website). That's a lot of wasted servo torque.

If you know there is a post on this topic why would you start a new one with a link to the existing thread?

I think many people have tried a Nitro model once

Because the post doesn't draw attention to it... IE, "Has anyone tried this one?"

It says nothing in the title about the new sukhoi so the chance of anyone associating the nitro planes 35% su 26 with this post is one in a million....

I am interested in the su 26 and wanted to see if anyone has bought one and if they like it...

Joe

I've heard some people say that they like the nitro planes and like you, some that wanted to re-work them...

You're right about the horn. Hopefully that's not the only hard point they put in the elevator.

I built a few NitroPlane ARF's and can only say this: They are worth the money you pay for. I paid $199.00 for a 69" Yak 54 and built this ARF three times already. It flies superbly. Only had to replace the wing tube. Other than that everything was very acceptible in quality. For $460.00 including shipping I would go for it any time. If you know what to look for and improve it probably would yield a great 35%. Only question left unanswered is, how will it fly???[sm=confused.gif]. But that's the gamble you risk, if you can't wait for someone else to be the guinea pig

Well.....for $460.00 you really can't go wrong for a winter build. You could take your time and build it right. I'm sure there will be some flaws. I'm almost tempted to get one as a thrasher plane and 3D the living hell out of it. It IS a good looking bird , but NP has never really been known as a high quality aircraft......but they do sell a lot of them.

Exactly, JEFFRO, It's not that NP ARFs will fall apart inflight, but you need to pay close attention to their hardware stuff, especially on a 35%. The hardware that came with my Yaks 54 couldn't have any better, except the wing tube and the wheels. On a big one a good hardware package can run you close to $80.00, if you have to replace everything. But even then you're still well ahead, moneywise. Other than that glue joints can be strengthened and motor boxes can be fiber glassed. No big deal. Again, if the airplane doesn't have an aerodynamic design flaw, you can't go wrong for that price. I wouldn't even worry about too much. It's probably a well proven, either copied or cloned, design
